Ask 'Couples Retreat' Stars a Question

couples-retreat-new-%282%29-438x275.jpg

From MovieFone

Vince Vaughn and Jon Favreau are back together again, but this time they're not scouring Vegas for beautiful babies, they're headed to Bora Bora for a 'Couples Retreat' (opening Oct. 9). In the comedy penned by Vaughn and Favreau, Jason Bateman and Kristen Bell, hoping to amend their fractured relationship, invite their friends -- three couples including Vaughn and Malin Akerman, Favreau and Kristin Davis, and Faizon Love and Kali Hawk -- to a resort that offers a number of couples exercises. It's not until they arrive that they find out that they must take part in the hours of therapy and dreadful bonding exercises, or get off the island.

We'll be sitting down with the entire cast of 'Couples Retreat' for video interviews (and a little therapy of our own) next week -- and we want you to give us the questions to ask.

Ever wonder if Jon and Vince are as close as they were when they filmed 'Swingers'? Or if Kristin Davis has anything to share about a certain sequel that's filming in New York? Oh, and, speaking of sequels, how about some deets on 'Iron Man 2'?

Submit your burning questions in the comments on the MovieFone Website by Tuesday, Sept. 22 and come back on Tuesday, Oct. 6 to see if it made the cut!

Vince croons for Rahman

Prithwish Ganguly
DNA India

Mumbai: Hollywood star Vince Vaughn might do something for AR Rahman which he has never done before for anyone else. Sources from the industry are saying that the actor is expected to strain his vocal cords for the romantic comedy Couples Retreat for which the South Indian musician and composer has been roped in for the soundtrack.

Directed by Peter Billingsley, the film also stars Kristen Bell and Jean Reno.

Vince has never sung in a movie but had performed for the soundtrack Hollywood to the Heartland in a comedy show called 30 Days & 30 Nights. An insider tipped us about the development, "Rahman is scoring the sound for Couples Retreat in which Vince plays the lead. When Rahman was in the US sometime back, they had met up and had a discussion about the project. It is here that Rahman apparently bounced off the idea that Vince should sing for him in the movie and Vince was very excited about it. It is learnt that he will be singing a romantic track in the movie. This film will have Rahman composing the score for a totally different audience. It will have pure Western sounds." Rahman remained unavailable for comment.

What's Couples Retreat?

The film is a comedy that narrates the story of four diverse couples who settle into a tropical island resort for a vacation, with one of them there especially to work on their failing marriage.

First look: Tropical isn't paradise for 'Couples' in Vaughn comedy

By Susan Wloszczyna, USA TODAY
Photo by John Johnson, NBC Universal

Vince Vaughn finally is getting that tropical paradise getaway so cruelly denied to him in his dysfunctional-family holiday hit Four Christmases.

One catch: He has to share his trip to the exotic isle of Bora Bora with a bunch of married friends who are coping with rocky relationships.

The producer and Frat Pack kingpin has beckoned what has become his new crew of regular co-stars — Jason Bateman, Jon Favreau and Faizon Love, plus Peter "A Christmas Story" Billingsley in his feature directing debut — for Couples Retreat, a romantic comedy due this summer.

"I had the concept a while ago, and Favreau did the first draft of the screenplay with specific actors in mind," Vaughn says.

Bateman, hoping to patch up his union with Kristen Bell, wants to go on a therapy vacation and invites three other couples along to save costs. But instead of simply enjoying fun in the sun, the suburbanites are forced to scrutinize the states of their own marriages.

Vaughn sums up the situation: "Jason and Kristen are Type A's struggling to have kids. Faizon and his wife (Kali Hawk) have just separated, and he is dating a young girl from Foot Locker. Me and my wife (Malin Akerman of 27 Dresses) are swamped with the kids and work. Favreau and Kristin Davis are secretly not completely faithful to each other."

As his character gripes to Bateman, "Thank you for bringing me to Problem Island."

Also on board: Jean Reno as Monsieur Marcelle, the resort's mastermind, and John Michael Higgins (Willie the elf from Fred Claus) as a therapist.

The South Pacific locale that provides the setting hasn't seen much Hollywood action before. "I think maybe one other movie has been shot there," Vaughn says. That would be the 1979 remake of Hurricane, a disaster flick of another sort. "We shot there for around four weeks. It's so damn beautiful, it looks like it's done with computers."

While the humor will be "adult," it won't be explicit adult. Expect a PG-13.

"We don't believe in swearing for swearing's sake," Vaughn says. Not that there won't be sexual gags, including "yoga teachers who are overly enthusiastic about putting people into poses."

Vince Vaughn Goes Tropical for 'Couples Retreat'

'Four Christmases' co-stars Vince Vaughn and Jon Favreau are re-teaming for the tropical comedy 'Couples Therapy,' in theaters next year, and ET's hanging with the stars on their exotic location shoot!

Vince dreamed up the idea for the movie for the 'Swingers' pals, written by Jon and directed by Peter Billingsley (the child star of 'A Christmas Story' and a frequent producer on their projects, including 'Iron Man'), which follows four couples vacationing on the island getaway -- with one of the couples there to work on their marriage, the rest just tagging along.

"A bunch of average folks get a chance to go to an exceptional place and they go to Bora Bora," explains Vince. "It's a funny background and funny setting to see those guys kind of, [like] fish-out-of-water, go and try to be a little more groovy than they are."

"I have to say, when you get off the plane here and then ride across the lagoon, it's really breathtaking," says Jon, "There's really no place like this I have ever been."

Jason Bateman, Kristin Davis, Kristen Bell, Faizon Love, Malin Akerman and Jean Reno also star.

"It's like a playground for us," says "Sex and the City" star Davis. "There's jet skis, you dive off your deck into the ocean, there's sea turtles swimming under your house. I mean, it is heaven if you love this kind of thing."

'Four Christmases' finds $31.7M in holiday cheer

46.7mil.jpg

By DAVID GERMAIN
AP Movie Writer

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Thanksgiving weekend movie crowds gobbled up the Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn holiday comedy "Four Christmases," which debuted at No. 1 with $31.7 million ($46.7 million for 5 days), according to studio estimates Sunday.

The Warner Bros. release, featuring Witherspoon and Vaughn as a couple suffering through four separate family holiday gatherings, raised its total to $46.7 million since opening Wednesday to get a head start on the long weekend.

The only potential competition comes Dec. 12 with the John Leguizamo tale "Nothing Like the Holidays."

The weekend's other new wide release, the Nicole Kidman-Hugh Jackman epic "Australia," opened at No. 5 with $14.8 million for the weekend and $20 million since debuting Wednesday.

The 20th Century Fox film reunites Kidman with "Moulin Rouge" director Baz Luhrmann for a World War II-era romance between an aristocratic British woman and an Australian ranch hand.

Sean Penn's drama "Milk" got off to a great start in limited release, coming in at No. 10 with $1.4 million in just 36 theaters. The film had a strong average of $38,375 a cinema, compared with $9,571 in 3,310 theaters for "Four Christmases."

"Milk," an Academy Awards contender released by Focus Features, stars Penn as gay-rights pioneer Harvey Milk, the San Francisco city supervisor slain by a colleague who also killed the mayor. The film expands to more theaters Friday.

Estimated ticket sales for Friday through Sunday at U.S. and Canadian theaters, according to Media By Numbers LLC. Final figures will be released Monday.

1. "Four Christmases," $31.7 million.

2. "Bolt," $26.6 million.

3. "Twilight," $26.4 million.

4. "Quantum of Solace," $19.5 million.

5. "Australia," $14.8 million.

6. "Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa," $14.5 million.

7. "Transporter 3," $12.3 million.

8. "Role Models," $5.3 million.

9. "The Boy in the Striped Pajamas," $1.7 million.

10. "Milk," $1.4 million.

In terms of revenue, it was Hollywood's second-biggest Thanksgiving period ever. The top 12 movies took in $223.7 million from Wednesday to Sunday, trailing only the $232.2 million haul over Thanksgiving in 2000.

Summit Entertainment's vampire romance "Twilight," which had a huge No. 1 opening the previous weekend, took a steep 62 percent decline from its $69.6 million debut and was neck-and-neck for second place with Disney's animated family flick "Bolt."

Based on Sunday's estimates, "Bolt" had a slight lead with $26.6 million for the weekend, compared to $26.4 million for "Twilight." Their rankings could change once final numbers are released Monday.

"Twilight' is still a phenomenon, but you can't really maintain that level of intensity week after week," said Paul Dergarabedian, president of box-office tracker Media By Numbers.

"Twilight" raised its 10-day total to $119.7 million, while "Bolt" lifted its sum to $66.9 million.

Hollywood typically releases a handful of holiday-themed movies starting in November, but "Four Christmases" has the market virtually to itself this season.

"It was the perfect time. It's the only movie out there that deals with Christmas," said Dan Fellman, head of distribution for Warner Bros.

'Four Christmases' Beats 'Twilight' For No. 1 Thanksgiving Box Office

Nikki Finke's Deadline Hollywood

fourchristmases_galleryposter1.jpg

FRIDAY AM: Waistlines expanded on Thanksgiving Day, and this 5-day holiday is shaping up as big for moviegoing, too. Maybe it's because of the grim economy that audiences wanted laughs, but the mediocre comedy Four Christmases, helped by a short 80-minute running time, knocked off Twilight for No. 1 on T-Day and should stay on top all weekend. I toldja it was too soon to call the weekend movie-wise based just on Wednesday's grosses. But the expected frontrunner, New Line/Warner Bros' PG-13 Four Christmases, found its footing Thursday, earning $9M from 3,310 theaters. That's a big 47% increase after opening only No. 2 Wednesday with $6.1M -- well behind $8M from 3,419 venues for Summit Entertainment's no-sex, no-violence, no-stars vampire romance beat the movie adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's best-selling book. But Twilight's tween/teen female fans must have been with their families on Thanksgiving because the PG-13 pic made only $5.1M.

My box office gurus had predicted that Four Christmases had "the best shot" to beat Twilight this weekend. The Vince Vaughn and Reese Witherspoon starrer is on track to overperform; it should debut with over $32M for the 3-day weekend (which is far better than Vince's last seasonal outing of $18.5M in the just plain awful Fred Claus) and $47M for the 5-day holiday. Twilight should make $25M for the 3-day weekend and $38M for the 5-day holiday.

Vince Vaughn set for 'Sunny and 68'

Gavin O'Connor to direct Universal drama

Variety

By Michael Fleming

Universal Pictures is acquiring "Sunny and 68," a spec script drama that Vince Vaughn will star in and Gavin O'Connor will direct.

O'Connor, who wrote the script with Anthony Tambakis, will produce with Vaughn's Wild West Picture Show Prods. banner. Universal got first crack at the script because Vaughn has a deal there. He's currently starring in "Couples Retreat," which he produces with Scott Stuber.

O'Connor, whose "Pride and Glory" was released this past weekend by Warner Bros., said he and Tambakis wrote the script, a drama with comedic overtones, with Vaughn in mind for the lead character.

Vaughn will play a superstar on the poker circuit whose alcoholism and recklessness cause him to flame out on national television. Wiped out and owing $500,000 to bookies, he heads home to upstate New York for the first time in 20 years, looking to take back cash he'd been sending his mother. Instead, he finds his mother dying of cancer and raising a 5-year-old girl who is actually his daughter. Mom has been positioning his former high school g.f. to become the girl's eventual caretaker.

"It's a story of how three generations of women teach this character to become a man," said O'Connor. The title comes from the character's mother, who, despite the cold weather, insists that "it's sunny and 68."

O'Connor is prepping his next directing project, "Warrior," a mixed martial arts drama he wrote with Tambakis that he'll shoot next year for Lionsgate. Plan is to shoot "Sunny and 68" in upstate New York in February 2010.

Three set for 'Couples Retreat'

By Borys Kit
The Hollywood Reporter

Kristen Bell, Kristin Davis, Malin Akerman join cast

Kristen Bell, Kristin Davis and Malin Akerman are signing up for "Couples Retreat," a Jon Favreau-scripted and Peter Billingsley-directed comedy for Universal.

The story revolves around four couples who go to a tropical island resort, with one couple working on their marriage and the others sucked into the resort's couples therapy. Vince Vaughn, Jon Favreau, Jason Bateman and Faizon Love are the men.

Bell is playing Bateman's wife, Davis plays Favreau's wife, and Akerman plays Vaughn's.

Scott Stuber is producing.

The movie will shoot in Bora Bora and Los Angeles.

Bell, repped by CAA and Brookside Artists Management, toplines Disney's romantic comedy "When in Rome" and is doing voice work for "Astroboy." She continues to recur on NBC's "Heroes."

Davis, repped by WMA and Mosaic Media, is coming off of the "Sex and the City" movie, which grossed $408 million worldwide.

Akerman, repped by Endeavor and Sanders Armstrong Caserta Management, next appears in "Watchmen," the adaptation of the Alan Moore-Dave Gibbons graphic novel. She also will appear in "The Proposal" with Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds.

Vince Vaughn, Jon Favreau Reunite at 'Retreat'

Found here

They were "Swingers" and "Made" men, but now Vince Vaughn and Jon Favreau are packing for a "Couples Retreat."

According to Variety, the frequent co-stars will join Jason Bateman ("Hancock") and Faizon Love ("Elf") in the comedy "Couples Retreat." Set up at Universal, the film is based on a script by Favreau and will be directed by Peter Billingsley.

Vaughn actually hatched the idea for "Couples Retreat," which focuses on four couples who go to an island resort to work on their marriages, some committed to the process, others just committed to a vacation. Hilarity ensues when it becomes clear that the resort's therapy isn't optional.

In addition to generating the premise, Vaughn's Wild West Picture Show will also produce along with Scott Stuber's Stuber Productions.

"Couples Retreat" could shoot as soon as late October in Bora Bora and Los Angeles.

Favreau will fit in his "Couples" acting stint before going back behind the camera for a second "Iron Man" feature.

Vaughn will be seen in this fall's "Four Christmases."

Oh and yes, "Christmas Story" fans, the Billingsley directing this film is, indeed, little Ralphie, all grown up. While this will be his feature directing debut, Billingsley has been working regularly as a producer on films including "Made" and "The Break-Up."

Four Christmases - Entertainment Weekly

20 Fall Movies We Can't Wait to See
Found Here
This holiday romp — starring Witherspoon and Vaughn as a couple obliged to celebrate Christmas with each of their divorced parents — is Reese's first romcom since 2005's Just Like Heaven. And in case having her back in high spirits isn't gift enough, the movie also marks the feature-directing debut of Seth Gordon, who made last year's terrific The King of Kong.

4xmases0816088.jpg

And the print article in EW's Fall Movie Preview:

Starring: Reese Witherspoon, Vince Vaughn, Robert Duvall, Sissy Spacek Written by Matt Allen, Jon Lucas, Scott Moore, Caleb Wilson Directed by Seth Gordon

Every holiday season, treacly yuletide-themed romantic comedies pile up like so much unwanted fruitcake, but Four Christmases goes for a bitter twist: A young couple (Vaughn and Witherspoon), each with divorced parents, are forced to celebrate one excruciating Christmas with all four of their screwed-up families. "This script had a fun outlawness to it," says Vaughn, starring in his second straight holiday comedy after last year's Fred Claus. "This couple tries to avoid their families on the holidays because it's too overwhelming." Also bucking convention, Vaughn and Witherspoon—who are both producers on the project—brought on Gordon, who directed last year's critically lauded videogame documentary The King of Kong but has never helmed a non-doc feature. "It was baptism by fire," says Gordon. "I was either going to be ready or I wasn't." Scary Christmas! Our Two Cents In a genre that can be ho-ho-hum, the oil-and-vinegar pairing of Witherspoon and Vaughn offers a little bite. 11/26

Holiday tale: Two singers, one swinger

By Gregg Goldstein
The Hollywood Reporter

swingers121807.jpgJon Favreau and country music stars Tim McGraw and Dwight Yoakam are hoppin' in the saddle with Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn for New Line Cinema's romantic comedy "Four Christmases."

Favreau and McGraw will play Dallas and Denver, respectively, two bullying siblings who delight in tormenting their brother, Brad (Vaughn), during the holidays.

Yoakam will play Pastor Phil, the overly zealous partner of Brad's new wife Kate's (Witherspoon) mother (Mary Steenburgen). He persuades the young couple to act in his church's nativity play, one of many chaotic events during their visits to different sets of parents.

Sissy Spacek, Kristin Chenoweth and Robert Duvall also star in the Spyglass Entertainment production for director Seth Gordon.

Matt Allen and Caleb Wilson wrote the original screenplay, with revisions by Jon Lucas and Scott Moore. Jonathan Glickman, Roger Birnbaum and Gary Barber are producing the film with Witherspoon and Vaughn.

"Christmases" is set for release during next year's holiday season. Michael Disco and Mark Kaufman are overseeing production for New Line.

Favreau appeared with Vaughn in 1993's "Rudy" before their careers took off as co-stars in 1996's "Swingers." The friends later reunited for "Made" (which Favreau also directed) and "The Break-Up." Favreau is repped by CAA and attorney Geoff Oblath.

Between recording albums and touring with wife Faith Hill, McGraw has appeared in such features as "Friday Night Lights" and "The Kingdom." Yoakam has a more extensive screen resume, taking supporting roles in "Sling Blade," "Panic Room," "Hollywood Homicide" and "Wedding Crashers."

McGraw is repped by CAA and manager Scott Simon. Yoakam is repped by WMA.

Fred Claus Unscripted - Complete Interview

Here is the interview where fans got to ask Vince and Paul questions. (original post)

November 3, 2007

Premiere Info

Don't forget, the Hollywood premiere of Fred Claus is tomorrow (Saturday, November 3) at Grauman's Chinese Theatre, 6925 Hollywood Blvd. Red carpet arrivals begin 3:00PM.

And the Chicago premiere is on Monday, November 5. Fans can view from just outside the Lucky Strike Lanes on the second level of the AMC theater complex at 322 E. Illinois. The red carpet arrivals begin around 5.

Countdown to Fred!

'Claus' for Vaughn fans

Found here

Actor will step off the red carpet for meet-and-greet at bowling alley before screening of new movie here (Chicago)

BY BILL ZWECKER Sun-Times Columnist

Fans of Vince Vaughn should be happy -- the actor hits town Monday to promote his holiday flick ''Fred Claus,'' largely filmed in Our Town late last year. While tickets to the premiere at the AMC River East 21 Monday night are pretty much spoken for, there will be plenty of space for true Vaughn groupies in a holding area just outside the Lucky Strike Lanes on the second level of the movie theater complex at 322 E. Illinois.

Vaughn, joined by ''Fred Claus'' director David Dobkin (who directed him in ''Wedding Crashers'' and ''Clay Pigeons''), will walk the red carpet around 5:15 p.m. Monday -- promising to greet fans before the 6 p.m. screening of the holiday comedy.

• Though Vaughn owns a condo at the Palmolive Building at Michigan and Walton, don't expect to see a lot of him around the Streeterville digs after his Monday premiere. He's not expected to be in Chicago long, as he's on a media treadmill to boost the Nov. 9 opening of the movie, also starring Paul Giamatti, Kathy Bates, Ludacris, Rachel Weisz and Kevin Spacey.

• Vaughn is also expected at the post-screening bash at the Crystal Gardens at Navy Pier.

• As for ''Fred Claus," bound to get lots of guffaws is a scene where Vaughn's title character (the wayward older brother of the sainted Santa Claus) attends a meeting of ''Siblings Anonymous'' as brothers of well-known folks vent about their second-class status. Hearing Roger Clinton (brother of Bill), Frank Stallone (brother of Sylvester) and Stephen Baldwin (brother of Alec, Billy and the rest) all let it rip is a total hoot.

Vince Vaughn: Naughty & Nice for the Holidays

People.com
people102907.jpgVince Vaughn hopes to put the "ho ho ho" back into the holidays with his new movie Fred Claus – in which he plays the older, overlooked brother of the big man in the red suit (Paul Giamatti as Santa). It opens Nov. 9. At a press conference for the comedy, a very unScrooge-like Vaughn, 37, talked of Christmases past, present and future.

What was it like going down the chimney for the movie?
Here is the good news. Sometimes I would come down the chimney, and that was fine, because I would just kind of come down the chimney. [But] when you see people falling and doing weird stuff? That is a stunt guy named Joe Bucaro, out of Chicago. I'm an actor, and it's not fashionable to mention stunt guys. A lot of actors are like, 'Yeah, I do my stunts.' I don't do any of my stuff. I don't like to do my stunts. I like to have a stunt guy do my stuff. So, Joe will go and fall on his head and then we'll do some kind of high five thing or something, and then I will lie on the ground and get up.

What is your secret Christmas wish?
I guess, understanding. As a kid, Christmas is fun because you want toys. Then when you get socks or shirts you kind of don't want those. As you get older that is all you get. It's nice to have kids around, because you kind of get to enjoy Christmas. I have a nephew and some nieces and them opening presents and being excited in that way is fun.

Do you remember when your belief in Santa was first shaken? (SPOILER ALERT: Do not read if you still believe in Santa Claus.)
I remember the day I had neighbors that let me know – I was 6 years old – that there was no Santa Claus. They go, 'You know there's not a Santa Claus, right?' – and, of course, covering in front of them I was like, 'Well, yeah. Of course there's not a Santa Claus, guys.' Then I went to my sisters, and they said, 'Okay, now you know the painful truth, there is not a Santa Claus.' I was the youngest. They said, 'Don't tell mom and dad, because then we may not get gifts anymore. You got to keep pretending that you think there is Santa Claus, or you are not going to get any gifts.' I was like 16 going, 'Dad, when is Santa coming down the chimney?' My dad was like, 'Look it's getting weird, you are getting older, you know there's not a Santa, right?' "

What would it take to restore your belief in Santa?
Funny how that works. We just did this fun short [film] for the World Series with these kids. We did Claus kind of coaching. We did the whole thing and it was over, one of the kids was 9 or 10, came running up to me afterwards. He goes, 'Hey, Fred.' I felt like Joe Green in that Coca-Cola commercial. He's like, 'Hey, Fred.' I turned and looked at him, I said, 'Yeah.' He says, 'Tell your brother to get me something this year.' I looked at him and I said, 'Oh, I got you. I got you.' So, now I'm just hoping that this guy is getting something good. Otherwise he's going to hunt me down."

Naughty or nice ... which were you?
I would have been naughty, but in a very nice way.

Time Warner Cable Teams with Warner Bros. Pictures to Launch Multi-Platform Marketing Campaign for the New Holiday Comedy Fred Claus

fredclausgiveaway.jpg

Integrated Effort Features Exclusive Extras in HD, Online Games, Sweepstakes

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Time Warner Cable (TWC) is teaming with sister company Warner Bros. Pictures to launch an integrated marketing campaign in support of the new holiday comedy Fred Claus, starring Vince Vaughn and Paul Giamatti, opening in theatres nationwide on Friday, November 9.

The integrated effort features “Exclusive Extras” in HD and standard definition on TWC’s On Demand platform, a dedicated website (www.fredclausgiveaway.com) offering a Fred Claus sweepstakes and new original video games based on the film.

“We saw the Fred Claus promotion as a way to provide our customers with free, engaging HD and standard definition content that not only promotes the movie but demonstrates what the Time Warner Cable platform is capable of,” said Lauren LoFrisco, Group Vice President of Marketing Communications. “We are providing additional value to our customers, giving them family entertainment on all of our platforms and enhancing that relationship through the website, which creates additional opportunities for an ongoing dialogue.”

TWC customers can view the “Exclusive Extras,” or video vignettes, on TWC’s Entertainment On Demand and HD Showcase On Demand. The vignettes are introduced by Santa’s Head Elf Willie, played by actor John Michael Higgins in Fred Claus. In each vignette, Willie offers Fred Claus extras, including behind-the-scenes footage and deleted scenes from the film. A new vignette will be added each week for seven weeks. Viewers will also have a chance to enter a Fred Claus sweepstakes to win weekly prizes, including a $10,000 home theater system provided by Circuit City, a retail partner of Time Warner Cable.

Time Warner Cable also leveraged Fred Claus movie assets to create advertising spots promoting their bundle, HDTV and Road Runner High Speed Online. The program will also be promoted at Circuit City stores in Time Warner Cable footprints, as well as through such local market extensions as radio remotes, customizable posters for payment centers, movie screenings for triple play and bundled customers as well as VOD street teams.

“In today’s multi-platform world, where marketing success depends on reaching consumers wherever they are, Warner Bros. Pictures is fortunate to be able to partner with our sister company. Thanks to Time Warner Cable’s integrated platform, we can reach potential fans of Fred Claus whether they are online or watching television,” said Debbie Miller, EVP of Warner Bros. Pictures Domestic Theatrical Marketing.

The vignettes were developed by Ogilvy’s Branded Content and Entertainment group in partnership with RTC Relationship Marketing (RTCRM) who developed the website and promos, and with Don Jagoda Associates (DJA), who managed the development of the games and the sweepstakes program, as well as Fame Retail who developed all of the in-store merchandising materials

About Warner Bros. Pictures’ new holiday comedy FRED CLAUS

Fred Claus (Vince Vaughn) has lived his entire life in his brother’s very large shadow. Fred tried, but could hardly live up to the example set by the younger Nicholas (Paul Giamatti), who was just a perfect...well...saint. True to form, Nicholas grew up to be the model of giving, while Fred became the polar opposite: a fast-talking repo man who’s run out of luck and money. Over Mrs. Claus’ objections, Nicholas agrees to help his brother on one condition: that he come to the North Pole and earn the money he needs by working in Santa’s workshop. The trouble is that Fred isn’t exactly elf material and, with Christmas fast approaching, Fred could jeopardize the jolliest holiday of the year. Warner Bros. Pictures presents a Silver Pictures Production, in association with David Dobkin Pictures and Jessie Nelson Productions, a Film by David Dobkin, “Fred Claus.” The film is directed by David Dobkin (“Wedding Crashers”) from a screenplay by Dan Fogelman (“Cars”), story by Jessie Nelson (“I Am Sam”) and Dan Fogelman. Joel Silver, Jessie Nelson and David Dobkin produced the film, with Paul Hitchcock serving as executive producer and Vince Vaughn co-producing. “Fred Claus” stars Vince Vaughn (“Wedding Crashers”), Paul Giamatti (“Sideways”), Miranda Richardson (“Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire”), John Michael Higgins (“The Break-Up”), Elizabeth Banks (“Spider-Man 3”), with Rachel Weisz (“The Constant Gardener”), with Kathy Bates (“Failure to Launch”) and Kevin Spacey (“Superman Returns”). “Fred Claus” will be released by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company. This film has been rated “PG” by the MPAA for “mild language and some rude humor.” Soundtrack Album on Warner Bros. Records. www.fredclaus.net For downloadable information and photos from “Fred Claus,” please visit press.warnerbros.com.

Time Warner Divisions Team Up for Movie Promo

By Andrew McMains

ADWEEK

NEW YORK Online gaming is at the center of an upcoming Time Warner Cable cross-promotional effort to sell its services as well as create buzz around Fred Claus, a major holiday release from sister company Warner Bros. that stars Vince Vaughn and Paul Giamatti.

The game, Fred Claus Adventure, will feature characters from the movie and encourage players to help Fred—Santa's older brother, played by Vaughn—"save" Christmas in a virtual North Pole. For example, players will be able to prevent other characters from doing "naughty" things or land an elf's sleigh.

Consumers will be driven to the game's Web site (www.fredclausgiveaway.com, still under construction) by traditional ads and a series of weekly video vignettes called "Exclusive Extras" that will be accessible via TWC's digital service offering, Entertainment on Demand. The seven vignettes will feature scenes from Fred Claus, each introduced by the movie's Willie the Elf character. And those scenes will match the setting of each new episode of the game.

The campaign, backed by an estimated $12 million to $15 million, will launch Oct. 19 and include promotional products, giveways and electronic cards. The collaboration is not unprecedented: The two divisions co-marketed Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in the spring, for example. But while previous efforts used more traditional media, the Fred Claus campaign centers around content. As such, it took roughly 10 months to develop and involved a half-dozen agencies, including TWC lead agency Ogilvy & Mather, which helped conceptualize the content and scripted the 3- to 5-minute vignettes.

The cable company "is providing a lot of support and engagement," said Mimi Slavin, senior vice president of domestic productions at Warner Bros. in Burbank, Calif. "We're making sure that we are focused on the theatrical message, and it is important to us that their customers love movies. So, it's a great target."

Slavin, who worked closely with TWC's senior director of promotion and merchandise, Happy Marino, added that "in our meetings, we narrowed down ideas to those that are appropriate for both the movie and for them. It is important for us that the promotions be compelling all the way through" and not just to open the movie. (Fred Claus, which depicts Fred's attempts to atone for his past bad deeds by helping Santa in the "family business," opens on Nov. 9. The campaign will run through Dec. 31.)

TWC went the content route because it "helps demonstrate the vitality of our platform," said Alex Dudley, senior director of corporate communications for TWC parent Time Warner here. "[Video on demand] is one of our most popular features. You need content to [demonstrate] that, and original content is just a terrific way to give our customers access that others don't get."

Gaming in particular seemed appropriate because it matched the "playfulness" and "comedic nature" of the film, said Doug Scott, executive director of branded content and entertainment at WPP Group's Ogilvy here. And, to make sure the vignettes matched the look, tone and feel of the movie, Ogilvy worked with Joel Silver Productions, one of the production companies on Fred Claus. TWC chose Fred Claus as its marketing vehicle because it's opening during the cable company's peak selling season and it seeks to reach the same core target as TWC: families, said Dudley.

Vaughn, Witherspoon set for comedy

Variety
Duo set for New Line's 'Four Christmases'

By DAVE MCNARY

Vince Vaughn and Reese Witherspoon will star in New Line's holiday comedy "Four Christmases," set up at Spyglass with Gary Barber, Roger Birnbaum and Jonathan Glickman producing.

Vaughn and Witherspoon are also producing the pic, in which a couple visit their four divorced parents on Christmas Day. Script's penned by the writing team of Matt Allen & Caleb Wilson.

New Line execs are meeting with directors and eying a late fall start of production - presumably with aim of getting "Four Christmases" into theaters during next year's holiday season.

Project brings Vaughn following the break-out success of 2005's "Wedding Crashers." Witherspoon, who won the Best Actress Oscar for "Walk the Line" this year, recently wrapped on political thriller "Rendition" opposite Jake Gyllenhaal and set for an October release.

Vaughn will next be seen in Warner's holiday comedy "Fred Claus" and next year's Picturehouse release "Vince Vaughn's Wild West Comedy Show: 30 Days and 30 Nights - Hollywood to the Heartland."

More insight into the WWCS sale

ww-poster042407.jpgVAUGHN FISHIN'

Found on CHUD.com

By Dan Vinton
Contributing sources: Variety

It's an understatement to say the Weinsteins haven't had the best luck of late. A string of recent, widely-released films including Hannibal Rising and Grindhouse have failed to make financial impacts and their award push with films like Miss Potter and Factory Girl simply landed lukewarm. There's always the upcoming Sicko and My Blueberry Nights to resuscitate a disappointing 2007/early 2008, but in the mean time, drama abhors a vacuum. There's an interesting story about their loss of Vince Vaughn's Wild West Comedy Show: 30 Days & 30 Nights. While it's yet to be seen if the loss of this project will truly be a loss, it can't be a confidence builder when Vaughn actually campaigns get the movie TWC picked up in Toronto out from under their banner.

While the film was picked up by the Weinsteins back in September, the marketing and rollout scheduled for Wild West Comedy Show wasn't cutting it for Vaughn, who then asked the Weinsteins if he could buy it back to get it redistributed through a partnership that would align more closely with Vaughn's vision. WWCS is to be R-rated, but part of the disagreement stemmed from Weinsteins proposed marketing emphasis around the rating, instead of an emphasis on getting to know your pal Vince Vaughn. To the Weinsteins' credit, they capitulated and WWCS and its world rights have since been picked up by Picturehouse and New Line at a lower price (about $1.5 million to Weinsteins $3 million), with a robust commitment to market the film more heavily. Picturehouse had been actively bidding for the project in Toronto.

WWCS is currently being slated for release in early 2008 (gotta ride that Fred Claus train) and features Vaughn hitching his wagon to not one, not two, not three, but four standups and hitting a 30-city tour in 30 days (which you may have taken part of, even). The film covers the gigs in addition to all the shenanigans behind the scenes. While the Toronoto Film Festival version clocked in at a shade under two hours, it's since been cut to a lean and mean 90 minutes.

Score one for Vaughn and score one for The Weinsteins. Vaughn gets to distribute and market his film the way he wants it to be and the Weinsteins prove they aren't total douchebags when it comes to "artistic vision". That, or it goes to show a certain ineptitude at marketing films that's been an unfortunate Wesinstein hallmark of the last few months (with their Asian film distribution, you could probably spread that out to years).

Vaughn rolls with Picturehouse, New Line Int'l By Gregg Goldstein

The Hollywood Reporter

April 25, 2007

Gregg Goldstein

NEW YORK -- Picturehouse and New Line International have nabbed all international rights to the comedy performance documentary "Vince Vaughn's Wild West Comedy Show: 30 Days & 30 Nights -- Hollywood to the Heartland."

The pickup comes seven months after the Weinstein Co. purchased the feature for $2.5 million-$3.5 million after its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, part of the new indie studio's pricey acquisitions spree. After tentatively slating the film for release in the spring, the company put the project back up for sale with UTA a few weeks ago.

Ari Sandel's film, produced by Vaughn, follows the actor as he leads a team of unknown comics on a monthlong tour across the U.S.

Picturehouse will release the film domestically in early 2008, and New Line International will handle overseas distribution.

Picturehouse senior vp acquisitions Sara Rose and New Line executive vp business affairs and co-productions Carolyn Blackwood negotiated the deal for their companies. Vince Vaughn is represented by UTA, Eric Gold and Deborah Klein.

New Vince Vaughn film shot in Chicago donates sets, wardrobe to center

By JOCELYN ALLISON
Northwest Herald

McHENRY – When Vince Vaughn’s newest holiday movie, “Fred Claus,” opens this Christmas, clients at Pioneer Center for Human Services might recognize a thing or two from the characters’ living rooms.

Crews who recently finished filming the movie in Chicago donated a truckload of furniture, clothes and holiday decorations from the set to a Pioneer Center storage facility in McHenry on Friday morning.

“We’ve had some spectacular donations, but this is really something else,” said Donna Kassens, vice president of funding for Pioneer Center, as crews hauled a string of Christmas trees into the storage facility at 3710 W. Elm St.

Pioneer Center is a nonprofit social-service agency that helps people with developmental disabilities, mental illness, and traumatic brain injury, and victims of sexual assault.

The organization operates 13 group homes for clients in the county. One of the residents, 39-year-old Clark Davidson, has a sister who works for Warner Brothers, which is distributing the movie.

Their late grandmother, Myrtle Davidson, was among 20 people who founded Pioneer Center in 1958.

“I send my brother autographed pictures, anything I can get movie paraphernalia-wise – they all go to him,” said Lisa Davidson, a 35-year-old Johnsburg native who now lives in Los Angeles. “So I thought this was a larger way to contribute.”

“The Pioneer Center is great,” she continued. “It gives [my brother] a place to go and gives so many people a place to go and work and be productive. I just admire the organization.”

The donation that crews delivered Friday included seven couches, six Christmas trees, 19 mattresses and 17 garbage bags full of clothes – including some with designer labels.

Pioneer Center donated the clothes to Sparrow’s Nest, which will in turn provide vouchers for Pioneer clients, Kassens said. The other items will be distributed among the group homes and to Pioneer clients living independently in the community, she said.

Much of the furniture is from 15 different living room sets that crews created for scenes in the movie that feature children opening up their Christmas present, said Scott Troha, a studio mechanic with IATSE Studio Mechanics Local 476 who worked on the movie.

Not all of it was donated. Some has to be kept in case the actors need to re-shoot a scene, Troha said.

And, much to Kassens’ dismay, none of the clothes were worn by Vaughn.

“I already asked,” she said.

Hollywood star Vince visits Belfast

Found here

belfast.jpgOne of Hollywood's biggest names proved a big draw for two Northern Ireland politicians on either side of the divide.

Vince Vaughn came face to face with Sinn Fein president Gerry Adams and loyalist politician David Ervine during a whistle-stop visit to Belfast.

The star of Swingers, Wedding Crashers and Old School interviewed Mr Adams in west Belfast and Progressive Unionist leader David Ervine in the east for a documentary on the city's murals.

Locals in the republican heartland of Andersonstown were stunned to see Mr Vaughn with two cameramen interviewing Mr Adams in front of a mural of the IRA hunger striker Kieran Doherty at Slemish Way.

A passer-by said: "You know what it's like. People see camera crews and they're immediately intrigued. People heard he was filming on the Falls Road yesterday and then they saw him with Gerry Adams.

"Vince Vaughn was really friendly, really open. He talked to the locals, signed autographs and had a bit of craic with them. He seemed really interested in the murals."

Mr Vaughn, who is dating Friends star Jennifer Aniston, then travelled to the east of the city to interview Mr Ervine off the Newtownards Road.

The East Belfast Assembly member said the 36-year-old actor told him he had developed a fascination with the murals during a previous visit to the city.

"He was taking a break from shooting a film in London with Kevin Spacey to do this documentary and came over for this weekend. There's no question he's genuinely interested in the subject. He was telling me his interest was sparked on a previous visit when he took a black taxi tour from the Europa Hotel. He knew nothing about the murals before that trip.

"We did a spot of filming in Dee Street around a mural depicting people coming to the shipyards," the PUP leader said. "I was explaining to him that years ago we would not have a mural like this because it would all have been about politics and our divisions. I told him that, for me, the mural was the epitome of the change process that is going on in Northern Ireland. The murals are changing."

Phillips Reveals Old School Sequel Bits
Source: Skewed and Reviewed

Skewed and Reviewed talked to School for Scoundrels co-writer/director/producer Todd Phillips about his Old School sequel in development at DreamWorks Pictures.

Phillips said that the title for the film will be Old School Dos. He is currently working on the script and will show it to the actors (Luke Wilson, Vince Vaughn and Will Ferrell), who aren't signed yet, upon completion.

Phillips revealed that the sequel will shed more light on Ferrell's character and why his wife was so concerned that his alter ego, Frank the Tank, never see the light of day again.

The 2003 comedy earned $74 million domestically.

Distrib picks up 'Vince Vaughn's Wild West Comedy'

Variety

TWC heats up Toronto, buys two pix
Distrib picks up 'Vince Vaughn's Wild West Comedy'

By STEVEN ZEITCHIK, GABRIEL SNYDER
TORONTO -- The Weinstein Company has added a jolt of energy to a sleepy Toronto Film Festival.

Company has nabbed rights to two hot pics that screened over the weekend -- the Vince Vaughn standup-comedy doc "Vince Vaughn's Wild West Comedy" and horror movie "All the Boys Love Mandy Lane" -- and will release both theatrically. Latter, which was shown at fest's horror-centric Midnight Madness screening series Saturday night, will be distribbed on TWC's Dimension label.

A source close to the "Lane" deal put the price tag at $3.5 million. TWC declined to comment on the price.

Company has yet to announce release plans for either movie.

Vaughn attracted huge interest over the weekend; after his Friday screening distribs mobbed producers, and thesp met with acquisition exces all day Saturday. Movie follows the personal and professional lives of a number of unknown stand-ups, with Vaughn as a kind of Greek chorus narrating his take on the biz.

Before the buys, no pics had been acquired at the festival proper, though several were announced at the fest.

"Old School" ranked Sports Illustrated's #1 College Movie of all Time

normal_oldschool12.jpg

Found Here

Here's what they said about it...

1. OLD SCHOOL
Not since Bobby Knight crash-landed on college basketball has anything existed so deliciously for the purpose of being quoted. This wonderfully sophomoric farce about a group of lackadaisical, middle-aged men starting their own college fraternity has quickly become a younger generation's must-see movie while clearly bewildering the Ebert set ("This is not a funny movie," blah, blah, blah). And did we mention the quotes? They taste so good when they leave your lips -- again and again. "Boy-band ass." "Earmuffs." "You're my boy, Blue!" Does it get old? Yeah, just like sex and chocolate and Bobby Knight get old.

SIGNATURE SPORTS MOMENT: Beanie (Vince Vaughn) coolly puffs a cig while doing the iron cross.

THEY SAID IT: "You can sit down and watch it a million times and always
find something new to laugh about."

Also ranking #11 is Rudy, one of Vince's early films.

Banks in Christmas spirit with Vaughn on "Claus"

Reuters via Yahoo! News

By Borys Kit

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) -
Elizabeth Banks has snagged a lead role opposite Vince Vaughn in "Joe Claus," a comedy from Warner Bros. Pictures.

"Claus," being directed by David Dobkin ("Wedding Crashers"), stars Vaughn as Santa's loser brother living in New York, who returns to the North Pole and almost ruins Christmas. Banks plays Vaughn's love interest, a hyper-organized member of Santa's Little Helpers. Paul Giamatti, Kevin Spacey and John Michael Higgins also are in the cast.

Banks, who will next be seen in Disney's sports drama "Invincible," which opens August 25, recently wrapped production on "Bill" opposite Aaron Eckhart and Jessica Alba. She and Rachel Weisz are in negotiations for "Definitely, Maybe," a romantic comedy from Working Title and Universal Pictures written and directed by Adam Brooks.

The actress is best known for her roles in "Seabiscuit" and "The 40-Year-Old Virgin."

What's happening in Vinceland?

Hey Vince fans! Sorry for the lack of updates lately. Summer always has a way of keeping me away from the computer.

The last couple of weeks, Vince has been in South Dakota filming Into the Wild. He is playing Chris McCandless' close friend, Wayne Westerberg. This is a pretty big role and a nice surprise for Vince fans because we originally thought he would be playing the much smaller part of Jim Gallien. IMDb still lists him as Jim, but we have since learned from several sources that this is incorrect.

Locals from the filming locations in South Dakota have been stopping by the Forum and also the IMDb Message Boards to share their firsthand accounts of meeting the cast and crew of the film. Here's an article that ran in the Argus Leader on July 7th that also talks about the filming.

I just started reading "Into the Wild" and am so excited that Vince is involved in this project. It's an amazing story and it will be interesting to see him in a dramatic role again. (Speaking of which, I just watched The Prime Gig tonight. I encourage you to watch this if haven't seen Vince do drama. He's awesome, of course, and it's such a great movie.)

Also, Vince is in talks to play the role of FBI's John O'Neill in the political drama Against All Enemies, the film version of Richard Clarke's inside-Washington memoir. More about that can be found here.

In other Vince news...hmmm...nothing else really comes to mind. ;-) All I have to say is that if you're interested in the gossip that's been floating around lately, we have a discussion about it in the Forum, as well.

That's all for now. Hope you're all enjoying summer as much as I am!

Vaughn is on 'Enemies' list

By Tatiana Siegel

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Paul Haggis wants to appoint Vince Vaughn to his hot-button political drama "Against All Enemies," the film version of Richard Clarke's Washington memoir.

No offer has been made to the "Wedding Crashers" star because Columbia Pictures is fine-tuning the film's budget, but the helmer has had discussions with Vaughn about filling the role of the FBI's John O'Neill.

Sean Penn, who recently cast Vaughn in his drama "Into the Wild," has been widely reported to be on board to play Clarke.

"Enemies" chronicles how the Bush administration handled the al-Qaida threat both before and after the September 11 terrorist attacks. The former U.S. terrorism czar's story offers an insider's account of the nation's security apparatus and the maneuvers of Washington power brokers.

Longtime writer Haggis, whose directorial debut was last year's Oscar-winning "Crash," is supervising scribe James Vanderbilt as he pens the second draft of the screenplay based on the 2004 book.

Vaughn is now onscreen opposite Jennifer Aniston in "The Break-Up," which has grossed more than $114 million domestically.

Found here

UPDATED: Jen/Vince's Break-Up A Hit! $38 Mil Opening Weekend For 3rd Biggest Romantic Comedy Ever. (Uni Relieved) + DVC Still No. 1 Overseas, Global $581 Mil

UPDATED: *Universal's frowns turned to high-fives this weekend because America wanted a laugh at movie theaters and made the studio's romantic comedy the third biggest of all time. It turns out the Vince Vaughn-Jennifer Aniston comedy that had been tracking less than satisfactorily -- and reviewed even worse, prompting all those showbiz cynics to ask whether Jen can really be a movie star -- is a hit at the box office. The Break-Up had a $38 million opening weekend, compared to 2nd-week-out X-Men 3's $34 mil, Over the Hedge's $21 mil and 3rd-week-out Da Vinci Code's $17 mil. Saturday's box office went up from Friday's: $14.6 for Universal's comedy (Sunday estimate of $9.2 mil), $14.2 for 20th Century Fox's comic book caper (Sunday est. $10.0 mil), $8.8 for Dreamworks/Paramount's toon (Sunday est. $6.1 mil), and $8 mil for Sony's religious thriller (Sunday est. $5.9 mil). Da Vinci was the No. 1 movie again overseas, taking in another $51 mil for an international total of $409 mil. The flick is about to pass Spiderman ($415 mil) and Spiderman 2 ($410 mil ) as Sony/Columbia's biggest international release ever. It's also the #2 top-grossing Hollywood film in Italy passing The Passion of the Christ and behind only Titanic. Worldwide, DVC had a $70 mil weekend to put worldwide cume at $581 mil.*

My sources are telling me early numbers say The Break-Up opened with a domestic take of $13.7 million Friday, which is prompting the studio to revise upwards their initial weekend opening estimate of $28 mil to a new estimated total of $38 mil. Who'd a thunk it! For this comedy especially nowadays, that's much more than respectable; that's a miracle. Either Jen has developed a film fanbase, or else Vince is packing 'em in. But I think America is just starved for comedy, any comedy, even a half-baked not-really-satisfying bickering-Bickersons comedy. And Uni's lethal marketing department brought it to audiences in the right away. It's Uni's biggest opening for '06 and the industry's highest-grossing romantic comedy for the opening weekend in the month of June. "Imagine what the b.o. could have been if this movie had been really great," an insider tells me. Attendance for 20th Century Fox's X-Men 3 went down 77% for a still kicking 2nd-Friday $10.4 mil haul. Dreamworks/Paramount's Over the Hedge went down 31% and took in $5.2 mil. And Sony's Da Vinci Code was a close fourth with $5.1 mil. (But that's in this country where pretty much only adults are seeing it. DVC is still doing boffo box office overseas. See below!) Meanwhile, Paramount's MI3 remains on life support with $1.2 mil. The Break-Up just opened in U.S. this weekend. Thanks to international audiences, Da Vinci hit the $500 mil mark worldwide Thursday (just as my sources told me it would...) Friday, DVC was off 52% and XM3 66%. But Sony's religious thriller has a total $350 mil foreign and 20th's comic book caper $100 mil.

'Wedding Crashers' wins 3 MTV Movie Awards

mtvawardsfin.jpg
Found here

By SANDY COHEN, AP Entertainment Writer

CULVER CITY, Calif. - Last summer's "Wedding Crashers" was the big winner at Saturday's 2006 MTV Movie Awards, collecting three prizes, including the coveted Golden Popcorn trophy for best movie.

The film also earned breakthrough performance honors for Isla Fisher and best on-screen team award for Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson.

The unconventional awards show, held on a soundstage at Sony Studios, celebrates the fun of films with prizes recognizing the best on-screen hero, villain, kiss and fight, as well as sexy, funny and frightened performances.

Host Jessica Alba turned current blockbusters into comedic treats with parodies of "The Da Vinci Code," "Mission Impossible: III" and "King Kong."

"It was a lot of work" making the mini-movies, she told The Associated Press. "At the end of the day, I needed a bath and a cry."

Alba took home her own Golden Popcorn trophy for her sexy performance in "Sin City."

Jake Gyllenhaal was a double winner. He beat out Oscar-winner Reese Witherspoon for best performance and teamed with "Brokeback Mountain" co-star Heath Ledger for best kiss.

"This is a real honor, not just for me and Heath but for all of you, that you picked this movie and this kiss over all the other ones," Gyllenhaal said. Awards are based on fan votes.

Rapper LL Cool J presented Spike Lee with the Silver Bucket of Excellence for "Do the Right Thing," his 1989 film examining racial tensions. The prize honors a movie from the past that has present-day resonance.

"The sad thing is that the issues that we tried to address with `Do the Right Thing' are still with us today, so how much progress have we made?" Lee asked as he accepted his award.

Will Ferrell presented fellow funnyman Jim Carrey with the MTV Generation Award for his diverse body of work.

"This man's versatility makes Thomas Jefferson look like a big fat idiot," Ferrell said.

Wearing an all-white suit, Carrey took the stage with a cadre of winged angels and performed a spontaneous hip-shaking jig.

The show also featured musical performances by soul duo Gnarls Barkley, rockers AFI and scantily clad songbird Christina Aguilera, who performed "Ain't No Other Man."

The show is scheduled to air at 8:30 p.m. June 8 on MTV.

A complete list of 2006 MTV Movie Awards winners:

Best movie: "Wedding Crashers"

Performance: Jake Gyllenhaal, "Brokeback Mountain."

Kevin Spacey to Play Joe Claus Villain

Comingsoon.net

Kevin Spacey has been set by Warner Bros. Pictures to play the villain in Joe Claus, the David Dobkin-directed comedy starring Vince Vaughn and Paul Giamatti, says Variety. The film was originally set up as "Fred Claus," but the studio encountered title clearance problems.

The role marks back-to-back WB bad guys for Spacey, who plays Lex Luthor in this summer's Bryan Singer-directed Superman Returns.

Joe Claus shoots in the fall in London, which is convenient for Spacey because he can continue his work as artistic director of the Old Vic. Spacey is already set to star in an Old Vic stage revival of "Moon for the Misbegotten."

Vaughn stars as the loser brother of Santa who joins his sibling at the North Pole.

John Michael Higgins, who just worked with Vaughn in The Break-Up, has joined the cast as Santa's head elf. Judi Dench will also star in the film, which was written by Dan Fogelman.

"The Break-Up": On the Set with Jen and Vince!

et051506.jpg
Entertainment Tonight

America's most talked-about couple, JENNIFER ANISTON and VINCE VAUGHN, display their affection -- and lack thereof -- on the big screen in their new comedy, 'The Break-Up,' in theaters June 2, and ET has a first look!

"I felt really safe with him," says Jennifer about what it was like to film with Vince. "I immediately felt comfortable, like I'd known him for a while, so that helped with our chemistry in the movie."

'The Break-Up' starts where most romantic comedies end: after boy and girl have met, fallen in love, moved in together to start their happily-ever-after -- and started driving each other nuts!

Vince plays a Chicago bus tour guide and Jen is an art dealer who have both had enough of each other's arguments. They split up and attempt to deal with the usual break-up issues, like who to bowl with on couples night!

The hardest part? Neither will move out of their gorgeous condo, which causes a few complications in the moving on department! JOEY LAUREN ADAMS, ANN-MARGRET, JUDY DAVIS, VINCENT D'ONOFRIO, JON FAVREAU and JUSTIN LONG round out the fun cast.

Comedy king Vince was last seen in the summer blockbuster 'The Wedding Crashers,' and Jen is no stranger to big-screen comedies either -- she worked with BEN STILLER in 'Along Came Polly' and JIM CARREY in 'Bruce Almighty.'

Watch ET Wednesday for a complete, exclusive look behind the scenes of 'The Break Up.'

Hollywood coming to Bullhead City in June

Found here

BULLHEAD CITY - Hollywood comes to Bullhead City for a day or two next month, when scenes from a new movie “Into the Wild” will be filmed here, as well as Laughlin, Topock and Kingman, according to Steve Johnson, Bullhead City public information officer.

The movie will be directed by Sean Penn and will star Emile Hirsch as Christopher McCandless.

Catherine Keener and Vince Vaughn will co-star.

“Into the Wild” is based on the 1996 non-fiction best-selling book by the same name, written by Jon Krakauer.

McCandless was an affluent, educated young man who left his old life behind to live off the land and eventually end up in the Alaskan wilderness, where he died.

The man's odyssey was chronicled in letters to friends.

“For about two years, he traveled around and he spent ... the greatest amount of time in Bullhead City,” Johnson said.

“(He) commented to somebody in a letter that he liked Bullhead - liked the wide-open space, the river and all that.”

“And what he did was he worked at McDonald's and camped out in the desert,” according to Johnson, who is currently reading the book.

“He liked hanging around with dispossessed people, the transients,” Johnson said.

“He didn't keep his driver's license, didn't use his Social Security number ... he rejected society,” according to Johnson.

McCandless only spent a few weeks in Bullhead City - just enough time to earn some money to fund his Alaska journey, Johnson said.

The film's location managers have been scouting sites, and it's rumored Penn has been here as well, according to Johnson.

“Where they're going to go, when they're actually going to do it, is all yet to be decided,” he said.

“They've been here several times. As they got closer to a date, they contacted us and said, ‘here's what we need. What do we do to make this happen?'”

“Basically, we need to know what they're doing so we can help them out,” Johnson said.

“They're going to need traffic control for the street scenes.” One of the areas of interest to the location managers is Highway 68 as it enters Bullhead City, according to Johnson.

This won't be the first time the area's served as a backdrop for movies. 2003's “View from the Top” had scenes shot at Laughlin Bullhead International Airport, Lake Havasu and Golden Valley.

The film starred Gwyneth Paltrow and Rob Lowe as flight attendants.

“Into the Wild” will be Penn's first directing job in five years. The movie is being produced by Art Linson and Bill Pohlad, who was executive producer of “Brokeback Mountain.”

“Into the Wild” will be distributed by Paramount Pictures' specialty division.

'Wild' times for Keener, Vaughn, Par

By Tatiana Siegel and Borys Kit
Found here

Catherine Keener and Vince Vaughn are taking a walk on the "Wild" side. The two have boarded the Sean Penn-helmed "Into the Wild," which Paramount Pictures' new specialty division is distributing.

Emile Hirsch already has signed on to star in the film, which chronicles the true story of Christopher McCandless, who graduated from college in 1992, abandoned his possessions and hitchhiked to Alaska to live in the wilderness and return to nature. He died four months later in an abandoned bus at a remote campsite. Penn adapted the screenplay from Jon Krakauer's book of the same name.

Keener's character picks up the hitchhiker and takes him in as a surrogate son. Vaughn plays a tow-truck driver whom Hirsch's character meets on the road.

Art Linson and William M. Pohlad are producing. Pohlad's River Road Entertainment is financing the project.

Comedies Dominate MTV Awards

mtvmovie2006.gif

NEW YORK - Comedies, frequently snubbed by award shows, will be front and center at this year's MTV Movie Awards.

Found here

"The 40-Year Old Virgin" and "Wedding Crashers" lead with five nominations each, MTV announced Monday. Both films will compete for best movie along with "Batman Begins," "King Kong" and "Sin City."

"Virgin" star Steve Carell is up for three awards, including best performance, best comedic performance and best on-screen team with Paul Rudd, Seth Rogen and Romany Malco.

Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn will also vie for best on-screen team for "Wedding Crashers." Both actors received nominations for best comedic performance.

Nominees for best kiss include Jake Gyllenhaal and Heath Ledger for "Brokeback Mountain" and Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie for "Mr. & Mrs. Smith."

"Crash," the Academy Awards best-picture winner, didn't receive a nomination.

One of the more unlikely groups of nominees is for sexiest performance, a newly added category. Rob Schneider, star of "Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo," competes with Beyonce Knowles, Jessica Alba, Jessica Simpson and Ziyi Zhang.

MTV has also added a category for best hero and will present an mtvU Student Filmmaker Award. For the first time, acting awards won't be divided by gender, and instead will be grouped under best performance.

A host and performers will be announced later.

The 2006 MTV Movie Awards will take place June 3 at Sony Picture Studios in Culver City, Calif. The show will air June 8 on MTV (9 p.m. EDT)

Film Bosses Use Duct Tape to Promote New Vaughn Film

ducttapee.gif

By WENN
Found Here

HOLLYWOOD - Bosses at NBC/Universal Studios have come up with a novel way to promote Jennifer Aniston's (& Vince Vaughn's!) new movie "The Break-Up", by sending out duct tape to journalists.

The tape becomes a big issue in the film when former lovers--played by Aniston and her real-life beau Vince Vaughn--separate their belongings using the sticky stuff--after they're forced to live together.

The duct tape also separates the pair as they lie in bed in the film's promotional poster.

Oscar nominee Paul Giamatti to play Santa in new comedy

AFP via Yahoo! News

LOS ANGELES (AFP) - Oscar-nominated actor Paul Giamatti has signed on to play Father Christmas in a new comedy that will co-star US star Vince Vaughn, the industry press said.

The Warner Bros comedy, which has not yet been given a definitive title, reunites Vaughn with director David Dobkin, who directed him in last year's comedy hit "Wedding Crashers," co-starring Owen Wilson, according to Daily Variety.

Veteran character actor Giamatti sprang to fame with his role in 2004's wine-themed road movie "Sideways," and he won an Oscar nomination earlier this year for his supporting role in Ron Howard's boxing epic "Cinderella Man."

He lost the award to George Clooney who won it for "Syriana."

Giamatti, 38, who has also had roles in films such as "American Splendor," will next star in Warners Bros' "Lady in the Water," from writer-director M. Night Shyamalan.

Vaughn will next star opposite Jennifer Aniston in the Universal comedy ""The Break-Up"."

Aniston, Vaughn return to Chicago

abc7chicago.com

March 30, 2006 - Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn returned to the city where their red hot romance first caught fire! They're back in Chicago to re-shoot some scenes for "The Break-Up" - which opens this summer.

Aniston and Vaughn were shooting in Chicago's Lincoln Park neighborhood Thursday afternoon. On one of our first warm days, they were wearing winter coats for the retakes and the sidewalks around Armitage and Fremont were covered with artificial snow. Vince was gregarious, waving and greeting the fans.

The Sun-Times reports that the couple not only spent some time at Kingston Mines - but also checked out some Gold Coast homes!

Well, Dang.

Found on MTV News

If you're a Vince Vaughn fan and you don't want to hear bad news, now might be the time for eyemuffs: his high-concept collaboration with "Three Kings" mastermind David O. Russell sounds like it's dead in the water. "That movie, I think, is falling apart," sighed "Slither" star Elizabeth Banks while discussing "The H Man Cometh," to which she was also attached. "It's a huge disappointment to me, personally and professionally ... I would have played the female lead opposite Vince. He would have played this surly radio host, and it's a really great story. David was just never quite happy with the script; he wrote 20 drafts. We were supposed to be shooting it in the fall but it just kept getting pushed, and I think ultimately Vince wanted to move on." Banks added that she will fill the opening with a replacement project that will be announced soon.

Vaughn the next Magnum PI?

By: Lowri Williams
Entertainment Wise

The latest actor to be linked to the new Magnum PI film is Jennifer Aniston’s new man Vince Vaughn.

He is up against the current favourite George Clooney; although Clooney has said he has not even been approached abut the role.

However, a source close to the film told Ananova: "The scriptwriter is Rawson Marshall Thurber, who wrote Dodgeball, and there are several other guys on the Magnum movie with connections to Vince.

"George is still favourite but, as time goes by, Vince's name will be thrown up more and more."

My money is on Vince.

Vince Vaughn Gets His "Claus" Into a New Holiday Comedy

Posted by Scott Weinberg on Monday, Feb. 27, 2006, 01:16 AM
Found here

Scott Weinberg writes: "According to Variety, funny guy Vince Vaughn will star in a new holiday comedy entitled "Fred Claus," a project that'll reunite him with his "Clay Pigeons" and "Wedding Crashers" director David Dobkin.

"The "Wedding Crashers" team of Vince Vaughn and director David Dobkin are at the altar for "Fred Claus," a Warner Bros. holiday comedy about Santa's loser brother.

While negotiations are just beginning, deal should see Vaughn cement his status as a comedy-carrying star by reaching the $20 million salary mark for the first time. Dan Fogelman wrote the script and Dobkin is producing with Jessie Nelson.

Comedy revolves around Santa's black-sheep brother, who heads back to the North Pole and gets a chance to redeem himself.""

EW blurb on "The Break-Up"

And from Entertainment Weekly's 2006 Movie Preview issue:

ew022006.jpg

"It's sort of an anti-romantic comedy," says Vince Vaughn of the movie that, ironically, hooked him up with a post-Brad Jennifer Aniston. "I'd get scripts for romantic comedies, and they always had some strange concept attached to them, like, 'Okay, if you don't marry the girl, you don't receive the inheritance,' or, 'I'm going to write an article for a paper, so I have to date someone.' Whereas I think relationships are weird enough on their own. I thought, 'What about looking at a breakup that way, as poignant and emotional, but at the same time as sort of funny.'" And, he promises, "it's as funny as anything I've done."

I Love Your Work

It's been awhile since we've heard anything about the film, I Love Your Work. I wrote something back in January about the problems they were having finding a distributor.

I just found out that it played in L.A. last week and will be playing in New York beginning December 2nd. Hopefully, it will be released on DVD soon. Vince's part is small, but it's always worth seeing him, even if it's only a couple of scenes.

Here's a review from the L.A. Times Calendar. And you can watch the trailer here.

Also, I've added some captures from the trailer in the gallery. Edit: Rebecca just sent me 23 better quality captures which are now in the gallery. Thanks so much, Rebecca!

The movie stars who saved our summer

From Entertainment Weekly's Popwatch:

The movie stars who saved our summer

This could have been a pretty disastrous moviegoing summer, but if you saw any of the following 10 performers in the multiplex this summer, they made your time worth what you spent on tickets and popcorn. None of them is a name you would have expected to steal moviegoing thunder from the likes of Tom Cruise, Will Ferrell, or Russell Crowe, but that's what they did. Here are the 10 MVPs of the recent movie season, as rounded up in the forthcoming issue of EW.

In no particular order, they are:

-Terrence Howard, for his starmaking role as pimp-turned-rapper DJay in Hustle & Flow, as well as his supporting roles in Four Brothers and Crash
-Matt Dillon, who pulled off the trickiest role in Crash and a comic villain part in Herbie: Fully Loaded
-Cillian Murphy, extra-creepy in Batman Begins and Red Eye
-Angelina Jolie, who rescued herself from box office poison status in Mr. & Mrs. Smith
-Vince Vaughn, who took his aggressive motormouth act to new comic heights in Smith and Wedding Crashers
-Dakota Fanning, who stole War of the Worlds from Cruise and Steven Spielberg
-indie queen Amy Adams (Junebug)
-Miranda July (Me and You and Everyone We Know)
-Star Wars: Episode III emperor Ian McDiarmid
-MVP Hall of Famer Paul Giamatti (Cinderella Man)

Thanks, Alicia, for passing this along!

The frat pack is darn near invincible

Here's an excerpt from an article entitled, "How summer schooled Hollywood: 10 lessons Tinsel Town should have learned from a so-so movie season" by Tom Long, Detroit News film critic.
Found here

"The frat pack is darn near invincible: This is getting scary. The loose club of Owen Wilson, Luke Wilson, Vince Vaughn, Will Ferrell and Ben Stiller hit gold again this summer with "Wedding Crashers" ($144 million and climbing). They never all show up in the same movie, playing musical chairs from hit to hit, but "Crashers" (starring Owen Wilson, Vaughn and with a cameo from Ferrell) follows the success of "Starsky & Hutch," "Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story," "Old School," "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy," "Meet the Parents" and "Meet the Fockers." Alone they can stumble (Ferrell had mediocre results this summer with "Bewitched" and "Kicking & Screaming"), but as a tag team they're uncanny."

Vince Vaughn and Gene Hackman for Haggis comedy?

Source: Total Film
Date: 10th August 2005
Found here

With Crash about to descend on the British filmgoing public, director Paul Haggis is doing the pubicity rounds to hype up the movie. Speaking with Total Film, Haggis revealed that his next film, Honeymoon With Harry, will be a romantic-comedy, a sort of a departure for the writer of Crash and Million Dollar Baby.

In the magazine, Haggis revealed a few casting rumours for the movie.

'It's a comedy about a man who goes on honeymoon with his father-in-law after his fiancee dies. Vince Vaughn wants to do it and Gene Hackman is reading it.'

Dream casting huh? The hotter than hot Vaughn and the legend, Gene Hackman as his father-in-law!

The film will be released through New Line Cinema.

Time's `Wedding Crashers' Is Weekend's No. 1 Movie

By Michael White
Bloomberg.com
Found here

July 31 (Bloomberg) -- Time Warner Inc.'s ``The Wedding Crashers'' climbed to the top spot in ticket sales at U.S. and Canadian theaters this weekend with $20.5 million, after finishing second the past two weekends.

``Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,'' also a Time Warner film, finished in second place with $16.4 million, beating out three films making their debuts. They were Walt Disney Co.'s ``Sky High,'' which was third with $14.6 million, followed by Sony Corp.'s ``Stealth'' in fourth place with $13.5 million, according to Exhibitor Relations Co. ``Must Love Dogs,'' also from Time Warner, opened in fifth place with $13.1 million

Time Warner had four films in the top 10, helping the company close in on 2005 box-office leader News Corp. Time Warner had about $918 million in sales as of July 24, trailing News Corp.'s $1.1 billion.

`` `The Wedding Crashers' illustrates the power of the word of mouth,'' said Richard Horgan, a film commentator with Fandango.com in Los Angeles. ``People got out the first week-and- a-half and are now telling people they have to see it and people are seeing it twice or three times. This is going to continue to make a lot of money this summer.''

Released by Time Warner's New Line unit, the movie features Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn as divorce mediators who each week find their way into a different wedding and a different bridesmaid's heart. It spent two weeks in second place behind ``Chocolate Factory,'' from Time Warner's Warner Bros. studio, before rising to the top spot.

The last time such a move occurred was in 2003, when Time Warner's ``Elf'' opened in second place for the Nov. 7 weekend behind ``Matrix Revolutions'' and climbed to the top spot in its second weekend, according to Exhibitor Relations.

Second place's ``Chocolate Factory'' is directed by Tim Burton and stars Johnny Depp as eccentric chocolate maker Willy Wonka. The film is a remake of the 1971 children's film and is based on the Roald Dahl novel. The film has taken in $148.1 million in three weeks of release.

``Johnny Depp has a tremendous fan base and it's impressive he remains at No. 2 with what essentially is a kiddie and family film,'' Horgan said.

`Must Love Dogs'

In ``Sky High,'' the son of superheroes enrolls in Sky High, a school for teens with super powers. Kurt Russell and Kelly Preston are the parents. Michael Angarano is their son.

``Stealth,'' which finished fourth, stars Jamie Foxx as a U.S. Navy fighter pilot who must battle a computer-guided bomber that begins attacking targets on its own.

``Must Love Dogs'' stars Diane Lane as a divorced preschool teacher looking for romance. John Cusack co-stars in the film, which is based on the book by Claire Cook.

`` `Stealth' is a major disappointment in not cracking $20 million, while `Must Love' and `Sky High' did acceptable and I think their studios will be fairly happy,'' Horgan said.

News Corp.'s ``Fantastic Four'' dropped to sixth with $6.8 million. The film, based on Marvel Entertainment Group Inc. comic- book characters, tells the story of four scientists who acquire unique powers after being exposed to cosmic radiation during a space flight.

``The Island,'' from DreamWorks SKG, took in $5.6 million in finishing seventh. The movie follows characters played by Ewan McGregor and Scarlett Johansson as they try to escape a seemingly utopian world after learning they are clones created for their organs.

`Bad News Bears'

``War of the Worlds,'' a co-production of Paramount and DreamWorks, dropped to eighth from sixth with $5.43 million. The film, directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Tom Cruise, has brought in $218.3 million in five weeks.

Viacom Inc.'s ``Bad News Bears,'' a remake of the 1976 comedy with Walter Matthau and Tatum O'Neal, fell to ninth place from fifth with $5.42 million. The Paramount Pictures release stars Billy Bob Thornton as a washed-up former baseball star trying to lead a Little League team of misfits and under performers.

Warner Independent Pictures' ``March of the Penguins,'' a documentary directed by Luc Jacquet that follows the annual migration of Emperor penguins to their breeding grounds, remained in 10th place with sales of $4.2 million. The film is playing in 778 theaters this weekend, up from 695 last weekend.

Sales Decline

Sales for the top 12 movies fell an estimated 21.3 percent to $112.1 million from the year-earlier period, Exhibitor Relations said in a statement.

This is the second weekend in a row revenue has dropped compared with the same period a year earlier.

``I think we are still in a slump,'' Horgan said. ``There is a certain sense that Hollywood is playing it safe.''

For the top 10, Time Warner films had the largest market share this weekend with $54.6 million, followed by Disney with $14.6 million, Sony with $13.5 million, Viacom with $10.8 million, News Corp. with $6.8 million and DreamWorks with $5.6 million. Among major Hollywood studios, only General Electric Co.'s Universal Pictures failed to place a film in the top 10.

The following chart contains figures provided by studios to Exhibitor Relations. The weekend results were based on actual grosses for Friday and Saturday and estimates for today.

Turner Buys 'Wedding Crashers'

By Jon Lafayette
Television Week
Found here

Before it even opened, Turner Broadcasting crashed the party to buy rights to what has become the top comedy in each of its first two weeks at the box office.

After Turner's TBS airs "Wedding Crashers," Comedy Central will have a window to show the New Line film.

Turner acquired the rights to "Wedding Crashers" several months ago in a package that included other films. Neither Turner nor New Line would disclose the other titles or discuss how much was paid for "Wedding Crashers," but a source familiar with the deal said the price was $10 million to $12 million, based on a percentage of the box office.

Turner will have the movie in 2008, 2009 and 2011. Comedy Central can show the film in 2010, 2012 and 2013.

Distributor New Line Television is negotiating with broadcast networks about airing the movie, said David Spiegelman, senior executive VP, domestic television distribution and marketing, for New Line Television.

"It's the perfect movie for TBS because it's very funny," said Steve Koonin, general manager of TNT and TBS, which bills itself as the "very funny" network.

"We screened the movie four or five months ago and loved it, and we bought it then," he said.

After it received strong reviews and drew more than $80 million at the box office in two weeks, other networks called to try to buy the film, but the joke was on them because TBS had gotten there first. TBS might have gotten a bit of a bargain by striking so early, one source said.

Both Turner and New Line are part of Time Warner, and Mr. Spiegelman said he was pleased to keep the film in the family.

Comedy Central agreed to take the second window more recently, a spokesman for the network said.

"Wedding Crashers" stars Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson. The R-rated film has several scenes that might need to be edited for basic cable.

"There are a couple of nude scenes that are easy to remove," Mr. Spiegelman said. Some language and a scene in which a woman gives Mr. Vaughn an under-the-table hand job during a family dinner might have to be altered. "We are really good at that," Mr. Spiegelman said.

(Comedy Central might be able to run the film uncut during its late-night Secret Stash block.)

With its focus on comedy, rival network executives said, TBS is under pressure to buy the handful of good comedies that Hollywood produces and is paying top dollar for them.

But Mr. Koonin said there's no pressure. "There has been a good amount of comedies and we're very interested in taking advantage of those opportunities when they present themselves," he said.

He noted that TBS has already landed "Wedding Crashers" and the Adam Sandler remake of "The Longest Yard," the two highest-grossing comedies this summer and, "We're well in the works on several other comedies."

Wedding Crashers Breaks $80 Million Mark at Box Office

Found here

LOS ANGELES– The New Line Cinema comedy Wedding Crashers continued its remarkably successful run at the domestic box office this past weekend as the film earned an additional $25.6 million to push its cumulative gross to $80.3 million in its first 10 days of release.

(I-Newswire) - LOS ANGELES– The New Line Cinema comedy Wedding Crashers continued its remarkably successful run at the domestic box office this past weekend as the film earned an additional $25.6 million to push its cumulative gross to $80.3 million in its first 10 days of release.

The staying power of Wedding Crashers has stood out in the summer’s crowded marketplace as its second weekend in release saw the film drop just 23% from its debut weekend performance - this marks the smallest drop of any film in the top 10. The film, which was budgeted at just $40 million, also had the highest per-theater average of any film in the top 10, earning $8,774 per theater.

The outrageous comedy Wedding Crashers stars Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn as divorce mediators and lifelong friends who have never met a wedding they couldn’t get themselves into. Guided by a secret set of wedding crashing “rules,” the pair find their way into a different wedding and different bridesmaid’s heart every week. But when they crash the social event of the season, one of them falls for the engaged daughter ( Rachel McAdams ) of an influential and eccentric politician ( Christopher Walken ) and decides to break the “rules” in pursuit of her. This leads to a wild weekend at her family’s palatial estate where the ultimate “Crashers” quickly find themselves in way over their heads. The film is directed by David Dobkin.

Wonka, 'Wedding Crashers' Top Box Office

Wonka, 'Wedding Crashers' Top Box Office

By DAVID GERMAIN
Associated Press

LOS ANGELES Jul 25, 2005 — "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" and "Wedding Crashers" held off a rush of new releases to retain the top two spots at the weekend box office.

But after two straight weekends of rising revenue, Hollywood slid back into the slump that has lingered most of the year. The top 12 movies took in $128.9 million, down 7 percent from the same weekend in 2004.

"The business was there. It just got spread pretty thin among a lot of movies," said Bruce Snyder, head of distribution for 20th Century Fox, whose films include "Fantastic Four."

"Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," starring Johnny Depp as candyman Willy Wonka, remained the top movie with $28.3 million, bringing its 10-day total to $114.1 million, according to studio estimates Sunday.

Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn's "Wedding Crashers" held on to the No. 2 spot with $26.2 million, raising its 10-day total to $80.9 million. "Wedding Crashers" held up strongly, its revenues off just 23 percent from opening weekend, compared to a 50 percent drop on "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory."

Michael Bay's cloning thriller "The Island" and the remake of the baseball comedy "The Bad News Bears" both debuted weakly.

"The Island," starring Ewan McGregor and Scarlett Johansson as clones on the run from a facility that has raised them as spare body parts, took in $12.1 million to finish at No. 4. It came in just behind "Fantastic Four," which grossed $12.3 million to lift its 17-day haul to $122.6 million.

Never a critics' darling, director Bay ("Armageddon," "Pearl Harbor") actually earned somewhat better reviews than usual for "The Island." Distributor DreamWorks was puzzled why Bay's action fans failed to turn up.

"I don't know. Clearly, it's a disappointing opening," said Jim Tharp, DreamWorks' head of distribution. "We can only hope the film finds its audience in the next few weeks."

"Bad New Bears," featuring Billy Bob Thornton as a washed-up ballplayer coaching a team of Little League misfits, came in fifth with $11.5 million.

More Thumbsucker

I just got a comment from Missy saying the official site for Thumbsucker is up. Also, the trailer can be viewed here. Finally!

From the website, I downloaded the press kit and found this quote from director, Mike Mills:

Working with Vince Vaughn, who plays debate coach Mr. Geary, Mills says, "I didn't direct Vince Vaughn. I rode the Vince Vaughn wave for a few days." According to Mills, Vaughn lent a great deal to the role that transcended his adaptation. "Vince definitely had ideas about Geary, about Ritalin, about being a teacher that weren't in the script before he showed up, and they were all great additions," Mills says. "I am very into being surprised by an actor, and I think that Vince is always looking forward for surprising moments, or just responding to the moment."

Just thought I'd mention it again

This week's Entertainment Weekly has a little chart showing Vince's top ten grossing films. I scanned it and inserted Wedding Crashers in its appropriate position for opening weekend. I'm sure it will maintain its position and perhaps even surpass Mr. & Mrs. Smith. What do you think?

Thanks, Alison for posting this on the board.

Wedding Crashers premiere

Don't forget that the Wedding Crashers premiere is being held July 13 at the Ziegfeld Theater in New York City.

And since a few of you have been asking, here's an article from Variety.com that explains why so many premieres are being held in New York this summer.

N.Y. rolling out its red carpets East gathers preem steam

The film business might not be based in New York, but this summer the premiere business is.
The majority of major preems have already, or will, take place in Gotham this summer: "Madagascar" in May; "Bewitched," "War of the Worlds," "Howl's Moving Castle," and "Dark Water" in June; "Fantastic Four," "The Island" and "Wedding Crashers" in July.

"This is the biggest year I've ever seen for premieres in New York," said L.A.-based event planner Jeffrey Best. "But at least we've still got the award-season events out here."

A few mega-films have a slew of openings ("The Lord of the Rings" had more premieres than it had elves). But studio belt-tightening means that usually the premiere is either in L.A. or New York -- not both.

If a New York-preeming film has another red carpet event in Los Angeles, as there was Monday for "War of the Worlds" this is usually labeled a "special screening," which doesn't trigger the premiere contract clause whereby talent and family have to be flown in.

"Everything is cyclical," said Universal special projects senior veep Hollace David. "And this year it just made sense to premiere a lot of movies in New York."

Publicists at various studios say there are usually three reasons for premiering in Gotham.

Ģ The talent either lives or works in Manhattan. "Bewitched" director Nora Ephron lives there and star Nicole Kidman is on location with "Fur."

It's where the film is set, which is essentially the case with "War of the Worlds" and "Fantastic Four," which will be the first preem ever held on Liberty Island.

If European-based actors are available for a short window, New York is logistically easier than L.A. "The Island" is set on the West Coast, but that factor is trumped by the fact that stars Ewan McGregor and Scarlett Johansson are both working in the U.K. The shorter flight to New York was better for their scheduling.

Event organizers say each coast has its advantages: L.A. has more large theaters while New York has more large, party-suitable venues. Hold a premiere in L.A. and travel costs are reduced, since most talent and execs are there; launch in New York and it's easier getting stars around the morning talkshow circuit.

Easier street closure

On the upside for L.A., it's easier to arrange the red-carpet setup, which usually involves a street closure. In New York, "It's World War III if you want to close a lane," one planner said.

At the Tribeca Film Festival's opening-night of "The Interpreter" in April, the combined power of everyone from Robert De Niro on down couldn't close 54th Street facing the Ziegfeld Theater. Organizers settled for one lane.

And the 1,162-seat Ziegfeld is pretty much the only location for a single-screen house in Manhattan. (The single-screen Beekman, with only 510 seats, closed last Sunday.) The alternatives are multiplexes (which studios avoid because of cross traffic from other auditoriums); or setting up your own screen, which is what Sony did when it premiered "Hitch" on Ellis Island in February.

Studio planners say there might be more use soon of the Skirball Center's 850-seat theater at NYU, and the Museum of Natural History's 926-seat LeFrak Theater, which Fox used last summer for "The Day After Tomorrow."

One studio exec pointed out one advantage of a New York preem: "There can be sameness to doing premieres in L.A. You see the same 500 people over and over."

Gotham's fresh faces

However, those familiar L.A. faces are at least famous. In New York, there's a paucity of big-name celebrity guests: "Today" show weatherman Al Roker is greeted by the press as though he's Leonardo DiCaprio.

On the other hand, instead of having the usual agents and managers who populate L.A. preems, in New York there's a chance to invite the editors of weekly magazines (and their corporate bosses), which keeps relationships warm and -- some publicists think -- results in additional photo coverage.

On the all-important subject of costs, it's agreed that New York prices are higher, but that doesn't necessarily mean the premiere tab is more.

"You just spend the money differently," one studio planner said. "I don't have a bigger budget. I spend more on food and drink in New York, but I don't have as big a decor and entertainment package. And I'm usually going into an existing venue rather than creating something from scratch in a parking lot."

Consider party costs at two museums on opposite coasts: NYC's MoMA rents for $50,000; L.A.'s Hammer goes for $25,000. Arts lovers may say you get what you pay for, but these costs are just for space, not the quality of art inside.

Gotham's turn on the premiere cycle won't end with the summer, either: "King Kong" -- likely to be a gargantuan bow -- will preem this December in Manhattan.

More on the Wedding Crashers website

wcscreensaver.jpg

My new screensaver from the Wedding Crashers website is so cool, but I'm sure I'll be sick of it before the night is over since I have it set to launch after only one minute of idle time.

The new stuff on the website is really great. Probably one of the best movie websites I've seen in a long time. They've even created fake websites that are connected to the movie. Here's the link to this part of the site.

But this is the funniest thing ever. You can "crash" the trailer for the movie, and our friend Kevin from the-frat-pack.com has done just so. Oh my god, it's brilliant. Check it out.

Vince and Jon together again

They'll be so money once again, and they know it! Completing an unofficial trilogy that has so far encompassed the cult films "Swingers" and "Made," Vince Vaughn and Jon Favreau will reunite again for ""The Break-Up"," a comedy about a divorcing couple (Vaughn and Jennifer Aniston) forced to cohabitate. "He's going to come into "The Break-Up" and play my best friend," Vaughn reported, saying that the two friends will switch up their usual styles this time around. "There's no one funnier that Favreau, or brighter than Favreau. He [usually] makes himself the straight guy and sets me up to be the comic relief, but he's one of the best at being that comic-relief guy, so he gets the chance to do that a little bit here in '"The Break-Up".' Vaughn upset his cameo in Mr. & Mrs. Smith was leaked

Found here*

VINCE VAUGHN asked MR + MRS SMITH director DOUG LIMAN to leave his name off the credits of the film - because he wanted to surprise fans.

But then Liman, who previously directed Vaughn in cult comedy SWINGERS, was so impressed with the funnyman's cameo he added it to the trailer for the film.

Vaughn shot his scenes for the movie, which raced to the top of the box office in America at the weekend (12JUN05), in four days.

Upset Vaughn says, "Doug Liman asked me to come do a cameo and I said, 'Sure.' It became a little bit bigger than what was intended and I don't take any billing in the movie because I wanted it to be kind of a surprise because it's not my movie.

"Then I ended up in the trailer, which I was kind of disappointed about only because I wanted it to be a surprise for people to not know I was in the movie."

But he's glad he agreed to sign up to make the movie: "I had a blast and I had fun working on it."

"Napoleon Dynamite" Takes "Best Movie," Ties With "Mean Girls" For Most Wins - With 3 Golden Popcorns Each
Movie Vet Dustin Hoffman Nabs Best Comedic Performance While Uma Thurman And Daryl Hannah Kick The Competition To Win Best Fight

2005 MTV Movie Awards Airs June 9TH AT 8:30 P.M.(ET/PT)

HOLLYWOOD, Calif., June 5 /PRNewswire/ -- With a theme of "behind the scenes at the movies," MTV hosted a star-studded evening at the 2005 MTV Movie Awards. Host Jimmy Fallon was the ringmaster for the fourteenth annual show, held at the Shrine Auditorium in Hollywood, CA. Eminem, Mariah Carey, and Foo Fighters gave electrifying performances - as fans have come to expect from this high-energy event, which airs on MTV Thursday, June 9, at 8:30 p.m. (ET/PT).

Napoleon Dynamite and Mean Girls were the big winners of the night with 3 Golden Popcorn statuettes each. Last year's MTV Movie Awards host Lindsay Lohan nabbed "Best Female Performance" for an earnest teen adapting to the social perils of a new school in the hit comedy Mean Girls. Leonardo DiCaprio scored the win for "Best Male Performance" for his role as eccentric billionaire Howard Hughes in the biopic The Aviator.

In recognition of his iconic status to the MTV audience, Tom Cruise accepted the first-ever MTV Generation Award - from none other than his new sweetheart Katie Holmes. The audience also went wild for the nostalgic Breakfast Club reunion, as Molly Ringwald, Judd Nelson, Ally Sheedy, and Anthony Michael Hall accepted the Silver Bucket of Excellence Award. The band Yellowcard performed a rendition of the movie's legendary theme song, "Don't You (Forget About Me)," as clips from the classic '80s movie played on the giant screens in the background.

Threaded throughout the show were different "backlot scenes," set in giant letters that spelled out MOVIE, to reflect various film genres, which introduced the award categories. When the cast of the upcoming film Fantastic Four presented the Breakthrough Female award, they made their grand entrance through a giant catacomb. Jessica Biel and Emile Hirsch were "attacked" by zombie arms as they made their way onstage to present the Best Frightened Performance award. And Johnny Knoxville, Seann William Scott, and Jessica Simpson from the upcoming The Dukes of Hazzard movie introduced the Best Musical Performance award by entering through a subway car scene - where they came upon "subway musician" Jimmy Fallon. Other scenes included a nod to Japanese monster movies, a samurai sword fight, and a romantic love scene.

Other highlights from the show included:

The show kicked off with a hilarious parody of the new Batman film, with host Fallon, Andy Dick, and Jon Heder from Napoleon Dynamite. This was the first of several parodies that had the audience laughing in their seats. Fallon starred in a spoof of Stars Wars, while Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson spoofed their own film Wedding Crashers, which also featured Justin Long, and Pamela Anderson.

The opening monologue from Fallon led into the first award of the night, BEST ONSCREEN TEAM, presented by MTV Movie Award veterans Adam Sandler and Chris Rock, fresh off their huge box office win with The Longest Yard.

As always, the MTV Movie Awards musical performers blew the roof off the joint. First up was Eminem with a jaw-dropping medley of his new single "Ass Like That" (in his first televised performance of the song) and "Mockingbird." Never one to disappoint the fans who've come to expect over-the-top performances from the hip-hop artist, Eminem's set included a mosh pit full o' puppets. Mariah Carey glammed it up with a romantically retro performance of her sixteenth #1 single, "We Belong Together." Foo Fighters closed the night with a roaring rendition of their new hit "Best of You."

The evening drew to a climatic close as Tom Cruise and his War of the Worlds co-star Dakota Fanning presented the Best Movie Award to Napoleon Dynamite. Cruise and Fallon then walked offstage and straight into the MTV Movie Awards Post Show, which featured an exclusive War of the Worlds clip.

With typical MTV fanfare, the biggest names in Hollywood turned out for the show. Presenters included Tom Cruise, Hilary Swank, Nicole Kidman, Samuel L. Jackson, Jennifer Connelly, Johnny Knoxville, Hilary Duff, Sandra Bullock, Jessica Simpson, The Rock, Dakota Fanning, Eva Mendes, Rob Schneider, Vin Diesel, Jessica Alba, Sean William Scott, Michael Chiklis, Ziyi Zhang, Paul Walker, Terrence Howard, Jessica Biel, Iaon Gruffudd, Julian McMahon, Chris Evans, and Katie Holmes.

The 2005 MTV MOVIE AWARDS will be seen in 164 countries/territories via 42 music programming services, and in 18 languages in over 418.8 million households.

Joel Gallen of Tenth Planet Productions will serve as Executive Producer for the 2005 MTV MOVIE AWARDS with Salli Frattini serving as Executive Producer for MTV. Rick Austin and Josh Greenberg will serve as producers on the show and Kathy Flynn will serve as Event Producer.

Mr. and Mrs. Smith

For those of you wondering how significant Vince's role in Mr. and Mrs. Smith is...I read this over on the Dinner For Five forum:

"I saw the film (Mr. and Mrs. Smith) last night, and Vince's role is a lot larger than is made out to be. Though he's not billed at all on the one-sheet nor the front end credits, his role is the third largest, behind the Bradgelina--and in the role call roll, his name is listed third..."

From the L.A. Times

Here's an excerpt from an article about Mr and Mrs. Smith and director, Doug Liman:

"The picture was rewritten time and again. Sequences were shot with villains who were then dropped altogether; a comedic cameo by Vince Vaughn was considerably expanded. Vaughn says he was fine with his relatively brief experience on the film. Liman gave him a lot of freedom to improvise, he says, adding, 'He's so bright when it comes to the camera. His movies always look really, really good.'"

Vince wants to bring moviemaking to Chicago

Article found here
Published May 15, 2005
By Terry Armour, Chicago Tribune

Actor Vince Vaughn rolls into town Tuesday to powwow with Mayor Richard Daley about the state of moviemaking in Chicago. We hear Vaughn, who grew up in Buffalo Grove, wants to establish a relationship with the city for a handful of productions he wants to bring to town, starting with "The Breakup," which begins shooting here June 20. That film, which also stars Jennifer Aniston, will showcase the Windy City as a tourist destination (Vaughn plays a tour guide on a double-decker bus).

More Summer (Vince) Movie Buzz...

Two small, but significant comments were made about Vince in CNN's summer movie review:

About Mr. and Mrs. Smith:
The film has been overshadowed of late by the alleged romance between its two stars -- both of whom deny a relationship -- but industry watchers still have high hopes. The director is Doug Liman, who had a big hit with "The Bourne Identity" in 2002, and previews have been promising. Besides, Vince Vaughn (who goes back with Liman to "Swingers") provides comic relief.

About Wedding Crashers:
In the midst of all the money thrown around in summer, there could be some sleepers. Bill Murray stars in the new Jim Jarmusch movie, "Broken Flowers"; Diane Lane and John Cusack team up in "Must Love Dogs"; and Owen Wilson and Vaughn (yes, he's also a popular man this summer) are "The Wedding Crashers."

MSNBC predicts 'Wedding Crashers' will be the Funniest Comedy of the Summer

"Buzz: This looks to be the funniest comedy of the summer. Vaughn, basically using his ’ÄúSwingers’Äù persona and Wilson (playing himself, as usual) are a great combination and it’Äôs easy to believe that many women would fall for their act (personally, I’Äôd have to go with Wilson)*. This is another product of the so-called Frat Pack (which also includes Ferrell and Ben Stiller). Dobkin is probably best known for directing 'Shanghai Knights.'"

"Also special mention to Vince Vaughn who steals his scenes. He is hilarious. It墜 little more than an extended cameo performance but Vaughn leaves an impression."

Hey, we've known that Vince was going to make it big for a long time.

But it sure is great to hear others finally acknowledge it! The San Francisco Chronicle has this to say about Wedding Crashers and Vince in their Summer Movie Preview:

Wedding Crashers (New Line) Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn play cynical divorce lawyers who pick up women at strangers' weddings for one-nighters. The cheap thrills suddenly get expensive when one cad meets a stalker and the other finds true love. Rachel McAdams ("The Notebook") co-stars as the smitten daughter of a frighteningly eccentric politician (Christopher Walken). "Shanghai Knights" director David Dobkin stages his second Owen Wilson buddy comedy, with James Carville and John McCain in cameos.

BUZZ: Is Vince Vaughn the next Will Ferrell? As they used to say in his breakout indie feature "Swingers," Vaughn is "money" because of his supporting roles in frat-pack hits, including "Old School," "Starsky & Hutch" and "Dodgeball." If "Wedding" delivers, Vaughn could join Ferrell, Adam Sandler and Ben Stiller as one of Hollywood's go-to leading men for comedies..

Mr. and Mrs. Smith Premiere

The Mr and Mrs. Smith premiere is being held on June 7 at Mann's Village Theatre in Westwood. This is where the Dodgeball premiere was held and it's a great place to watch the whole red carpet thing. I'm guessing Vince will be there, so if you're near LA, it might be fun to check it out.

Info found here. I'm sure they'll soon be announcing when and where the Wedding Crashers premiere is going to be, as well.

Mr. & Mrs. Smith Full Trailer, Website, etc.

The full trailer for Mr. and Mrs. Smith has been released and there's more Vince in this one. Also, the website has finally been updated with lots of cool stuff.

mrmrssmith02.jpg

A reviewer on CanMag.com has this to say about the new trailer:

The final trailer for Mr and Mrs Smith is online now! Holy movie trailer Friday! We first get some new Star Wars, some new Dukes of Hazzard, and now this. How can a trailer go wrong when it shows comedy, tons of action, Vince Vaughn, and hot looks from Angelina Jolie? You're right, it can't!

The new trailer for Mr and Mrs Smith looks just as rad as the first trailers, and allows us to see even more comedy from the film. My favorite two parts is the 'couple squabble' and the hilarious remark by Vince Vaughn near the end of the trailer. Actually, I was forced to laugh quietly considering how late it is [12:45 AM].

As most of you have heard me say repeatedly about Mr and Mrs Smith, this film still gives me a True Lies [bought the DVD today] feel, but not nearly as much as the earlier trailers. In the end, this movie looks like one of the most fun action films of the summer.

Newsweek Summer Movie Preview Photos

wedcrash27.jpg

Our hardworking friends the-frat-pack.com found a wonderful photo spread in the May 9 issue of Newsweek.

Also, here is an audio narration of the photos by Newsweek's Senior Photo Editor, Nicki Gostin. She had fun working with Vince and Owen and says this about Vince: "I don't he think acts, I think it's just him. He's like Mr. Swingers guy, winking at girls, calling everyone 'baby', etc." She says he and Owen have great chemistry and are great friends. She said that after the shoot they played ping-pong and are very competitive.

Nice find, Kevin!

10 Burning Questions at the movies this summer

This was cute...excerpt from USA Today article where Scott Bowles and Susan Wloszczyna ponder 10 burning questions at the movies this summer:

8. Can Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn cut it as an odd couple?

Save for a few flings with Jackie Chan, laid-back Wilson has been going steady onscreen with uptight Ben Stiller for quite a while. Seven films, in fact. But every relationship needs a breather.

Enter director David Dobkin, who decided to play matchmaker while editing Wilson's Shanghai Knights. "I thought about Vince's fast Chicago delivery paired with Owen's slow Texas drawl. A dark tall guy with a fair-haired guy. It's a chemistry thing."

The script for The Wedding Crashers (July 15), about divorce lawyers who crash weddings so they can score with the bridesmaids, seemed perfect.

Lawrence J. Epstein, author of a history of comedy teams titled Mixed Nuts, says, "If it turns out Wilson is the romantic and Vaughn is the cynic, that would be the perfect conflict model." Bingo. Wilson falls for bridesmaid Rachel McAdams (The Notebook) while Vaughn itches to drop her lovestruck sister.

The Wedding Crashers: Trailer Reviewed

Posted Apr 22, 2005, 11:00 AM ET by Bob Sassone

Found here.

Swingers is one of my all-time favorite movies. I can practically perform the entire movie myself, I've seen it so many times. Vince Vaughn is one of those guys you'd watch in anything.㋒Even if the movie is bad, he's probably still pretty good in it. The Wedding Crashers has a funny premise: two single guys who crash weddings trying to find women.㋒Weddings are something we all understand and put up with, so it's really ripe for a clever comedy.

But the trailer is...unconvincing. Why do the trailers of comedy movies always push the obvious, more broad jokes? I know, to get attention and laughs. But you can't tell what this flick is going to be like: another dumb comedy or a well-written romp.㋒It's Vaughn and Owen Wilson (you knew that was coming; these movies are either Vaughn and Stiller or Stiller and Wilson or some combo) with all these women,㋒trying to score by㋒dancing with little girls at the receptions and pretending to cry. But one㋒woman takes everything too seriously and falls in love with Vaughn, leading to wacky hijinks. I'd love to think this is going to be really funny, but it's all in the writing,㋒of course. Christopher Walken could liven things up.㋒Funny line from Vaughn: "Tattoo on her lower㋒back. Might as well be a bullseye."

ET Crashes the 'Wedding Crashers' Set

Thanks to Tricia for telling me about this video interview on ET Online. And she also found this one from Extra. The second one was shot last year, but I'm not sure when the first one was taped. Have I said just how excited I am about this movie? Can't wait.

Thanks so much, Tricia!

Also, here's the accompanying article from the ET page:

Owen & Vince: 'Wedding Crashers'!

April 1, 2005

Funnymen VINCE VAUGHN and OWEN WILSON are crashing the wedding scene this summer in search of chicks in 'Wedding Crashers' -- and ET has your exclusive sneak peek at the outrageous comedy!

"We're two guys that, like the title would suggest, are wedding crashers; we go to weddings to pick up girls," Owen tells ET.

"I was excited to do the project because the script was actually based on a Swedish fable; a short story," jokes Vince, "and one that I always read as a child."

"HANS CHRISTIAN ANDERSEN," adds Owen. "Yeah, it was right after The Nutcracker that he did 'The Wedding Crashers.'"

In the movie, opening nationwide July 22, Owen and Vince play a pair of lifelong friends who work as divorce mediators. Guided by a secret set of wedding crasher rules, the two have never met a celebration they couldn't get themselves into. Each weekend they crash a new wedding, regardless of its culture, and find their way into a different bridesmaid's heart.

"We, like, change our last names if we're going to an Indian wedding; all of a sudden [Vince is] Chuck Vindaloo," says Owen.

"There's a whole bunch of rules, and the very last rule is that there are no rules," explains Vince.

"Yes," Owen chimes in, "and you don't talk about the rules."

"That's the first rule of 'Fight Club,' and oddly it's the fourth rule of 'Wedding Crashers,'" says a deadpan Vince. "So if you didn't read all the rules, you might give a few of them away."

Life is going great for the happy-go-lucky pair until they crash the social event of the season, hosted by an influential politician (CHRISTOPHER WALKEN). Suddenly, the two realize they're in over their heads, and their friendship is tested when Owen falls for Walken's engaged daughter ('Mean Girls' star RACHEL McADAMS) -- and decides to break the rules in pursuit of her.

"I would want a traditional wedding where I'd ask the girl's father, 'Can I marry her?' and do that sort of thing," says Owen about his own dream wedding.

"I would probably want, maybe, an Eastern Bloc wedding if I was to have one," jokes Vince, "where people wouldn't show any emotion and the food wasn't great."

Watch ET for more with Vince and Owen!

Another article on Scott and Mary

Parent, Stuber moving to prod'n deal
By Borys Kit
Found here.

Mary Parent and Scott Stuber, Universal Pictures vice chairmen of worldwide production, will step down by year's end to jointly segue into an exclusive, five-year producing deal with the studio.

To facilitate an orderly transition, executive vp production Donna Langley has been promoted to president of production, effective immediately.

When Parent and Stuber were promoted in December 2003, they entered into a seven-year contract under which they agreed to serve in executive roles for the first two years before becoming producers at Universal for the remaining five. That agreement was not publicly disclosed at the time, said Universal Pictures chairman Stacey Snider, because it would have rendered the two execs lame ducks.

"It would not have been at the studio's best interest to talk about segueing into a producer deal," Snider said. "It would have rendered their time as (executives) unstable and difficult. ... People would have thought, 'Why should we deal with them? They're just going to be producing.' "

Instead, Snider said that the two executives oversaw a two-year game plan that allowed them to achieve a number of goals, chief among them shepherding the studio's 2005 release slate through production and lining up projects that are just beginning to go before cameras for release next year.

"It was a time to lock up the slate for '05 and '06," Snider said. "It was a time to secure the team and train Donna and groom her for the promotion she is getting today. And it was a time to leave room in the backend for transition."

Although the two execs now face a prolonged transition period of more than six months, Parent said: "You can't make an announcement like this and be out the door two weeks later. We're all inexorably linked. The five years begin in January, and so in order for us to do that, we need to announce it now, and by the time we walk out the door, no one will notice."

While observers of the studio's culture maintain that Parent and Stuber have chaffed under financial micromanagement by General Electric, which bought the company and merged it with NBC in the fall of 2003, they denied that was an issue.

Two years ago, when they made a long-term commitment to Universal, Parent said, "We knew exactly who we were signing up to."

"What's great about it is we've got the infrastructure with our company, with Ron (Meyer, Universal Studios president) and Stacey, and then Bob (Wright, NBC Universal chairman) and Jeff (Zucker, NBC Universal president) and what they do vis-a-vis GE and NBC, and they've been nothing but terrific in our minds."

Parent and Stuber have just begun discussing which, if any, existing Universal projects they might take with them to their new company, which does not yet have a name."What I expect from them is to be in production in the first year and be productive from the get-go," Snider said. "So we'll figure out how we'll get them going. It's not the kind of deal where two years from now you're going to be saying, 'Hey, when are we going to get a movie from Stuber and Parent?' They are going to be big suppliers and in production the first year."

Parent and Stuber both joined Universal in 1997. Parent came from New Line Cinema, and Stuber worked at Donner/Shuler-Donner Prods.

The longtime friends first worked under then-president of production Marc Platt and Snider, who at the time was co-president of production.

Snider became head of the studio in 1998 and, after the departure of Kevin Misher as head of production in 2001, Parent and Stuber were named presidents of production.

The duo played a role in shepherding such hits as "The Fast and the Furious," "A Beautiful Mind," "Meet the Parents," "The Bourne Identity," "Bruce Almighty," "Bring It On" and "Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas." They supervised more than 90 films, 21 of which made more than $100 million apiece at the boxoffice.

They also were involved in assembling the upcoming release schedule, which includes "Cinderella Man," "Doom," "The 40 Year-Old Virgin," "Serenity," "Jarhead," "King Kong" and Steven Spielberg's untitled 1972 Olympics movie.

Langley joined Universal in 2001 as senior vp production after seven years at New Line. She was named exec vp in October 2003 and was involved in the development of "Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason" and "In Good Company." She is currently the executive in charge of Spike Lee's "Inside Man"; "Prime," starring Uma Thurman and Meryl Streep; and "You Me and Dupree," starring Owen Wilson.

"We put her in this position to ascend to this job, and she is more than willing and more than capable," Stuber said. "She will be, frankly, terrific at it."

Snider said that she was pleased Parent and Stuber will remain within the Universal fold.

"Oh, my God, we have been through so much together, and it just makes for really deep bonds and genuine affection," she said. "I'm happy for them and proud of them."

Congratulations to Scott Stuber and Mary Parent of Universal

Universal Pictures Vice Chairmen of Worldwide Production Mary Parent and Scott Stuber Transition Into Exclusive Producing Deal

Found here

LOS ANGELES, April 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Universal Pictures Chairman Stacey Snider announced today that Vice Chairmen, Worldwide Production, Mary Parent and Scott Stuber will transition into their five-year exclusive producing agreement with the studio. In 2003 when Stuber and Parent were promoted they signed a seven-year agreement with the studio, the first two of which they would serve as Vice Chairmen, Worldwide Production, and the balance as producers on the lot. Also announced today, Universal Pictures Executive Vice President of Production, Donna Langley will become the President of Production, reporting to Snider. Langley's promotion is effective immediately and Stuber and Parent's transition to producing will occur at the end of 2005, when the executive portion of their contract finishes.

The addition of Stuber and Parent to Universal's roster of production companies provides the studio with another respected and reliable feature film supplier for its annual slate. "After eight-years of overseeing the development and production of what are arguably Universal's biggest hits and franchises, we are ecstatic to have Mary and Scott's vast talents transferred to producing films for the studio as one of its ongoing major suppliers," said Snider. "Our belief in Scott and Mary has always been so great that two years ago when we discussed their future with the studio, we happily made this long- term agreement as we wanted to be the beneficiaries of their productivity and talents in any capacity. One of the key ways companies can continue to grow, evolve and embrace the future is by working to fulfill the dreams of those that have served it with exceptional results -- and Mary and Scott have clearly done just that."

In regards to new President of Production, Donna Langley, Snider added, "Donna is a superlative executive with great taste and all of the skills to handle the production chief duties. Additionally, she has a great team supporting her. One of Universal's strengths is developing executive talent from within the organization and Donna is an example of this fact."

"We got into this business because we both love movies and it has been a dream of ours to become producers. Having the opportunity to do this at a studio we love, with a group of people we consider family is our dream come true," said Stuber and Parent. "We feel incredibly fortunate that when we were given our current position two years ago, Ron and Stacey were generous enough to help us realize our goal with a home on the Universal lot. Donna is someone we have known for more than ten years, and couldn't be more deserving of running production."

Donna Langley was named Executive Vice President, Production for Universal Pictures in October of 2003. Since that time she has been intimately involved in the development and production of numerous Universal feature films including 2004's world-wide smash "Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason" and the critical and audience favorite "In Good Company." She is currently working on the upcoming "Inside Man," starring Denzel Washington and Clive Owen and directed by Spike Lee, which is set for production later this year; the comedy "You Me and Dupree," starring Owen Wilson; and the romantic comedy, "Prime," starring Uma Thurman and Meryl Streep. Langley has been actively involved in the update of Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice" starring Keira Knightly for Universal's Focus Features due in theatres later this year.

Prior to joining Universal, Ms. Langley served as Senior Vice President of Production for New Line Cinema, having first joined New Line in 1994. At New Line she oversaw a number of films including "Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me," which she also executive produced, and "The Cell."

Scott Stuber and Mary Parent joined Universal Pictures in 1997 as Senior Vice Presidents of Production. In 2001 they were each named President of Production, rising to Vice Chairmen, Worldwide Production in 2003. Over the past eight years they have supervised over ninety films, twenty-one of which reached $100 million or more domestically -- with seventeen of these films reaching this milestone from the time they began running production in 2001. During this same period the studio received twenty Academy Awardⓕ nominations resulting in seven Oscarsⓕ.

Universal Pictures is a division of Universal Studios (www.universalstudios.com). Universal Studios is part of NBC Universal. NBC Universal is one of the world's leading media and entertainment companies in the development, production, and marketing of entertainment, news, and information to a global audience. Formed in May 2004 through the combining of NBC and Vivendi Universal Entertainment, NBC Universal owns and operates the No. 1 television network, the fastest-growing Spanish-language network, a valuable portfolio of news and entertainment networks, a premier motion picture company, significant television production operations, a leading television stations group, and world-renowned theme parks. Another little blurb about the David O. Russell project

From MTV News: He's dodged balls, tapped kegs and dug his claws into some little bunnies. Now Vince Vaughn will bring his patented wiseass grin to the airwaves with a little help from "Three Kings" director David O. Russell. In the still-untitled comedy, Vaughn will play the derisive host of a radio call-in show whose world falls apart when he realizes he's turning into his callers. The man behind the lens for "Spanking the Monkey" and "I Heart Huckabees" admits he's aiming for a mainstream hit this time around. "This ain't no 'Huckabees,' " Russell told Variety. "There is no question, this aims to be more accessible."

Don't forget...Blackball is out on DVD tomorrow

blackballxsmall.jpgJust a reminder that the Blackball DVD is on sale in the States tomorrow. I received an advance copy of it to review and I was not disappointed. I was a little worried when I read some so-so reviews last week, even though I've heard great things about it from the UK, where it has been out for quite awhile. But I have to say that I really enjoyed it. Vince was fabulous, gorgeous and funny, as usual. And we get to hear his wonderful laugh! What more can you ask for? The rest of the cast was excellent, too. I do appreciate British humor and although I only laughed out loud a few times, I was thoroughly entertained throughout the whole movie.

Buy it here. This movie should definitely be included in your Vince Vaughn DVD collection.

Lampoon's 'Blackball' Tests Film Release Standards

Article found here

Tue Feb 8,10:15 PM ET
Movies - Reuters
By Bob Tourtellotte

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - National Lampoon Inc. is challenging long-held film release practices by releasing "National Lampoon's Blackball" in theaters on Friday and on DVD four days later.

For executives at the company that has made millions of dollars at box offices off raw humor and college pranks in movies from 1978's "Animal House" to 2002's "Van Wilder," this four-day theatrical release is no laughing matter.

Normally, a Hollywood studio will send a film to theaters and several months later -- after the movie has had its run in theaters and collected all the ticket sales it can -- the film will be put on video or DVD for rental and retail sales.

But with DVD sales of $15 billion in 2004 far surpassing U.S. box office receipts of $9.4 billion, more movie companies are rushing films through theaters and onto retail shelves to take advantage of the advertising and promotion that typically support a film's theatrical release.

Theatrical marketing, in turn, creates consumer awareness that stimulates video rentals and DVD sales, and it appears National Lampoon's four-day turnaround is the fastest, yet.

"Clearly, we are ahead of the curve in emerging distribution platforms," said Barry Layne, executive vice president of National Lampoon.

Layne and Bill Bromley, senior vice president of First Look Home Entertainment which partnered with National Lampoon in the movie release, hope to show that movies can simultaneously win audiences in theaters and also sell videos and DVDs.

While National Lampoon is pushing Hollywood movie release envelopes with "Blackball," starring Vince Vaughn in a comedy centered on lawn bowling, other companies are also shrinking times between film and video releases.

In October, 2004, DreamWorks sent out "Surviving Christmas" to major hype. When it flopped at box offices the major studio rushed the videos and DVDs into stores by December.

Atlanta's The Convex Group put a Christmas movie, "Noel" in theaters last November and on the same day issued a disposable DVD -- different from National Lampoon's long-lasting DVD -- to retailers such as Amazon.com.

Dawn Whaley, executive vice president of The Convex Group, said she believed the publicity around the theatrical release did help spur sales of the DVD.

"The economics of the industry are changing," said National Lampoon's Layne, without the slightest hint of humor.

The Deal is Done

Sony Classics gives thumbs-up to 'Thumbsucker'
Article found here

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Sony Pictures Classics has acquired rights to "Thumbsucker," a crowdpleaser at the recent Sundance Film Festival.

Sources said the deal -- covering North America and English-speaking territories -- was in the $3.5 million-$4 million range. It is scheduled for fall release Stateside.

A first feature from skateboard designer and music-video director Mike Mills, "Thumbsucker" stars Lou Pucci as an incommunicative teenager who doesn't want to give up sucking his thumb. Trying to provide helpful advice are his confused parents (Tilda Swinton and Vincent D'Onofrio), his wacky orthodontist (Keanu Reeves), his love interest (Kelli Garner) and his debate coach (Vince Vaughn).

Sony Classics has committed to running the "Thumbsucker" trailer before such upcoming wide releases as sister studio Columbia Pictures' summer skateboard movie "Lords of Dogtown."

"Thumbsucker" will screen in competition at the Berlin International Film Festival (Feb. 10-20).

Sundance: Thumbs Up, but Not Sold Yet

Thumbsucker review

By Roger Friedman
Review found here

So: It is not a foregone conclusion that Focus Features will buy Mike Mills' wonderful debut film, "Thumbsucker."

So said Mills to me last night when I ran into him and his agent at the big IFC Films party on Main Street in Park City.

"We've had a lot of interest, but people are afraid they don't know how to market it," he said.

"Thumbsucker," adapted from Walter Kirn's novel, is about a teenage boy who is so screwed up he's still sucking his thumb. This embarrasses the heck out of his parents, who finally try putting him on Ritalin after a diagnosis of attention-deficit disorder.

Alas, since he doesn't have ADD, the Ritalin acts as speed, which leads to a series of events that will change this young man's life.

"Thumbsucker" is funny, insightful, edgy and poignant. The performances are uniformly superb. If movies like "Garden State" and "Thirteen" found devoted audiences, then "Thumbsucker" is destined for cult status.

Accomplished actors Tilda Swinton, Vincent D'Onofrio, Vince Vaughn, Benjamin Bratt and Keanu Reeves (the last in a daffy comic turn that recalls his early pre-action films) all make "Thumbsucker" a joy to watch.

But 19-year-old Lou Taylor Pucci absolutely shines. He makes the movie as essential as "Rushmore," "Igby Goes Down," "Roger Dodger" or any of the other recent great coming-of-age films. Pucci is likely to be awarded many times next winter as the breakthrough star of 2005.

But first the movie needs a distributor. Miramax? Fox Searchlight? Let's hope one of these classy studios steps up to the plate. Soon.

Thumbsucker Premiere at Sundance Film Festival

As I type this, Getty Images is uploading photos from the Thumbsucker premiere...still none of Vince. I'm not sure if he attended or not.* I can't wait to hear the reviews of the film.

*Update - my guess is that Vince didn't go. Wireimage also has some "Thumbsucker Portraits" up from earlier and there's no Vince.

Pauly Shore is so not Dead

psidposter.jpg

I have a confession to make. I really like Pauly Shore. So back when I heard that Vince has a cameo in Pauly's movie, Pauly Shore is Dead, I was like, all right!

I didn't catch the movie during its very limited run in theaters, but the DVD is going to be available on January 25th! If you want a sneak-peek, go watch the trailer on the official website. Vince looks amazing, as usual.

The scoop on "I Love Your Work"

I've been doing a little research on the status of I Love Your Work. Every message board I've come across has people asking the same question: When will this picture will be released in the US? I finally decided to go straight to the source and emailed Cyan Pictures. This morning I got an answer from the CEO, Joshua Newman, directing me to this entry on Cyan's weblog explaining why there has been such a delay. Pretty interesting.

Hopefully, we won't have to wait much longer for this highly anticipated movie. Have any of you in other countries seen this movie? Did you like it?

Something else I found during my research...

Cyan Pictures hired well-known blogger, Helen Jane to cover the making of "I Love Your Work." They moved her to LA and she wrote a daily blog from the set. Unfortunately, the blog is no longer online, but I found some of the entries on webarchive.org. Also, if you read through helenjane.com's archives (starting with November 26,2002, you can find where she was hired on to what she calls "A job that is the unbelievablebestestly bestest job in the whole world." No doubt. Can you imagine being on the set of a movie every day and getting paid to blog about it? And a movie with Vince Vaughn? Oh my god. Helen Jane, you are a lucky, lucky girl.

Here is another article on Shift.com about Helen Jane's job promoting the movie.

Oh! One more thing...

Sarah on the VinceValiant Yahoo Group has informed us that Blackball is finally being released on DVD in the United States! I made the same mistake as she and bought the wrong one from Amazon a few months ago.

The correct one (with Vince!) will be released on February 15!

Thanks, SLN, for this hot tip!

A Dodgeball Sequel in the Works?

Source: Tacquito

December 30, 2004

It sounds like 20th Century Fox was pretty darn satisfied with the $166.7 million worldwide gross of Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, which opened in June and stars Vince Vaughn, Ben Stiller, Christine Taylor, and Rip Torn.

A scooper by the name of 'Tacquito' tells us that Justin Long, who played Justin in the comedy, says he's hearing a sequel is a go:

I met ED's Justin Long at the Rio Ranch and Conference Centre here in New Mexico last week. He's filming a movie in the area called Dreamland with John Corbett.

Long story Short: We gushed about Dodgeball and he had some good news for fellow fans - the film was a huge hit at cinemas, and the director has been contacted by the studio about doing a sequel sometime this year. Justin said he's yet to be contacted about it, but he's heard third-hand that it'll be 'everyone' back.

That director is Rawson Marshall Thurber, who also wrote the movie. Stay tuned for more possible news on this as it comes in.

So I've had my Dodgeball DVD since Monday morning, but I just haven't had time to watch it yet. I did, however, check out the menus and found the Easter Egg on the Features Menu, where a Very Big Ben Stiller* explains how to get even MORE Easter Eggs while watching the movie. How fun is that? I AM SUCH A GEEK!

I have noticed that since Tuesday, this site has received a big jump in hits, and I am certain it is attributed to the release of the DVD. I bet there lots of new Vince fans out there, which is great! Come on, don't be shy. Introduce yourselves! Tell us how you like the DVD or just say hi.

'Be Cool' Poster

Found this on Empire Online.

becoolposter.jpg

All I can say is, that is one cool poster.

Bigger is Better

And here's the accompanying article:

What Lovely Ensembles!

Be Cool and Ocean's Twelve posters online
15 October 2004

Could John Travolta, the Lazarus of Hollywood, be about to hit the comeback trail again? With his latest film, Ladder 49, sitting pretty in the US Top 10 currently, it looks like the bad memories of the last couple of years ’Äì The Punisher, Basic, Domestic Disturbance ’Äì could be banished forever.
Of courses, he needs to follow up Ladder 49 with something equally solid. It could be A Love Song For Bobby Long, a drama in which he co-stars with Scarlett Johansson, and which has already been attracting Oscar buzz. But more than likely it will be Be Cool, the long-awaited sequel to Get Shorty, in which Travolta reprises the role of cool-as-ice debt collector-cum-movie producer-cum music hotshot, Chili Palmer.

And, just to reinforce our suspicions, the poster for the movie turned up online today in a super-size version, and it's one of the most striking poster images we've seen in a long time. It showcases a slimmed-down, consummately slick Travolta surrounded by a who's who of movies and music ’Äì Uma Thurman, Vince Vaughn, Danny De Vito, Harvey Keitel, Christina Milian, The Rock, Steven Tyler, and Andre 3000 from OutKast (or Andre Benjamin as he's credited here) ’Äì and more than lives up to the movie's title.

’ÄúJohn’Äôs a superstar, an icon,’Äù director F. Gary Gray told Empire. ’ÄúYou put him with Uma Thurman, Andre 3000, The Rock and Steven Tyler - that’Äôs something I’Äôd want to see.’Äù

He's not wrong ’Äì we can smell the hit from here.

Meanwhile, the teaser poster for a movie with arguably an even glossier cast also debuted online today. The Ocean's Twelve poster is a spiritual successor to the oh-so-cool 'legs eleven' one-sheet that ran prior to the release of Ocean's Eleven. However, the fact that the legs of Danny Ocean & Co. are clearly running, not gliding, this time might suggest a touch of urgency, even desperation, awaits them in the Steven Soderbergh sequel?

But it's the credits block that warrants most attention. Clooney, Pitt, Damon, Garcia and Roberts were prominent last time around, but joining them above the title this time are Bernie Mac (Frank Catton), Catherine Zeta-Jones (Interpol agent Isabel Lahiri) and Don Cheadle (Basher Tarr), who went entirely uncredited last time. The message is clear: more stars, more glitz, more action, more cool.

Be Cool

This has to be a mistake. The Beaufort Gazette (via Nando Media) for some reason thinks that Be Cool is coming out on October 31. IMDb shows 2005, and MGM still doesn't have an official website up (although they do have the domain reserved: www.becoolmovie.com). Does anyone know an official release date?

More info...Rotten Tomatoes also has October 31st as the release date. Wassup with that?

Mr. and Mrs. Smith

Thanks to a new informant, Cass, here is a trailer for Mr. and Mrs. Smith. You can see Vince for about a second, but hey, a second is better than nothing at all! And at least we know that the movie is really being made. Apparently, there have been many delays in filming because of a flu bug that was going around. According to an update posted on theZreview (March 12, 2004):

"Illness has been running rife through the cast and crew on the Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie starring Mr and Mrs Smith. The filming has had to be temporarily postponed while they all recover from the flu like virus. Both Brad and Angelina have been sick several times, they have been reinfecting each other as they have had to film several kissing scenes!"

Vince Vaughn is a Heckler

I can't help but notice the uncanny timing of this announcement. This just happened on Monday.

Found on comingsoon.net, 9/15/2004

New Line Cinema has picked up the comedy Heckled from the writing team of Jeremy Haft and Ed Gonzalez.

The revenge tale centers on a heckler who causes an NBA superstar to get suspended only to find his own life in chaos when the roles are reversed and the heckler becomes the heckled.

The project has been developed with an eye for Vince Vaughn to star as the heckler, says The Hollywood Reporter.

Source: The Hollywood Reporter September 15, 2004

And zap2it.com's article:

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - New Line Cinema has picked up a comedy, with an eye for Vince Vaughn to star.

The studio has purchased the comedy script for "Heckled," by the Jeremy Haft and Ed Gonzalez writing team, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The story centers on an annoying heckler who is responsible for an NBA player getting suspended. The tables are turned, however, when the heckler finds the athlete pestering him out of revenge.

Vaughn, 34, most recently starred in "Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story" and will appear in the upcoming "Be Cool," "Wedding Crashers" and "Mr. and Mrs. Smith."

More on 'Paparazzi'

Here's more scoop about Vince's cameo in 'Paparazzi'...

From FilmStew.com:

"The film is partially redeemed by a number of scene-stealing cameos by the likes of Chris Rock, Matthew McConaghey, Gibson and Vince Vaughn, the latter of whom creates the film墜 funniest moment while trying to recount Bo墜 tabloid-documented penis-enlargement experience. But these flashes fall too few and far apart to uplift the rest of this sub-Cinemax revenge tale from the bottom of the Death Wish knockoff bin."

Another Cameo for Vince

paparazziss.jpg

Apparently, Vince has a cameo role* in the upcoming movie, 'Paparazzi', (opens September 3rd). (Maybe the cameo is just footage from a premiere or something?) Neither the official site nor IMDb list him, but this Yahoo! site does mention his appearance.

I wonder what Vince's thoughts are about the real paparazzi. Not the regular, on-the-red-carpet paparazzi, but the guys who stalk celebrities while they are shopping, dining, driving or whatever. I guess if you're a celebrity, you have to accept the attention that it brings and expect to see cameras every corner you turn. But how much is too much?

I felt very awkward when I hung around outside the after-party after the Dodgeball premiere. The stalkerazzi guys (yes, they were all guys) who hang out at these things are a strange lot. I felt completely out of place. But I figured it was my only chance to see Vince up close--so I waited.

Yeah, I got to see him as he exited the restaurant and jumped into his waiting car, but it was not the great experience I had expected it would be. Vince wasn't the least bit interested in stopping to sign autographs or pose for anyone. And that made me feel a little embarrassed to be there. The whole experience was fun and different, but I don't think I will be doing it again. And even though I'll occasionally still buy my trashy mags (In Touch, Us and People--they're a hard habit to break), I'll let someone else handle the taking of the stalker photos.

* He also had a cameo in Anchorman and in the upcoming, Pauly Shore is Dead. Check out the trailer for PSID. You'll see Vince looking ruggedly handsome. Here's an animated gif of his part in it.

Yes, he is brilliant.

weddingcrasherscoll.jpg

Here is a small excerpt from an interview with Rachel McAdams, who stars with Vince in Wedding Crashers. Here is the complete interview.

IGNFF: How is The Wedding Crashers going?

MCADAMS: I just finished it. We just wrapped last week. It was awesome. It was so much fun. We were shooting in Maryland and Washington, DC. We were sailing around on boats and going on picnics and having barbecues and, you know, working with Owen and Vince and Chris Walken and Jane Seymour. It was so fun, I remember sitting beside Bradley Cooper, who plays my fiance, we were doing a dinner scene and there was, like, 15 of us around the table and he looked at me and said, 'What a crazy family!' You've got Chris Walken at the head of the table here and Jane Seymour down here and then everybody filling in-between and then Owen and Vince across from us. What a crazy cast. It's so rich.

IGNFF: Is it hard to keep a straight face with them, especially with Vince's
dry sense of humor?

MCADAMS: It is. He's brilliant. When he would riff, I mean, there was a few days where everyone was just sort of in awe of him. When he gets on that tangent, when he gets on that runaway train, there's no stopping him. I think they used a lot of film.

Slightly better than average, if you ask me!

averjoesnohotlink.jpg

Here's a nice little blurb about the success of Dodgeball. (Taken from
Movie City News, July 23, 2004. By David Poland

Vince Vaughn - "DodgeBall is Vaughn's only $100 million movie other than The Lost World: Jurassic Park and this time, he is the lead and not some dinosaur (or a Wilson brother). Vaughn has taken his time and done supporting roles since the bloom fell off the rose of his early career and now, it is finally paying off."

Yay, Vince!
