'Christmases' time for Vaughn, Witherspoon
By Borys Kit and Carolyn Giardina

July 27, 2007

Vince Vaughn and Reese Witherspoon are in final negotiations to star in New Line Cinema's comedy "Four Christmases."

In the film, Vaughn and Witherspoon will play a couple who struggle to visit all four of their divorced parents' homes over the Christmas holidays.

The project is based on a screenplay by Matt Allen and Caleb Wilson. Producing are Spyglass Entertainment's Gary Barber, Roger Birnbaum and Jon Glickman. Vaughn and Witherspoon are also in discussions to produce.

New Line production president Toby Emmerich and production executives Mark Kaufman and Michael Disco will oversee the project for the company.

Vaughn's credits include New Line's "Wedding Crashers." His upcoming films include "Fred Claus" for Warner Bros. and the "Vince Vaughn Wild West Comedy Show: Hollywood to the Heartland," to be released by Picturehouse.

Witherspoon, who won as Oscar for "Walk the Line," will appear in New Line thriller "Rendition," which is scheduled for an Oct. 12 release.

Sounds like another People's Choice award for Favorite Leading Man.

I wonder when this will start filming. It would have to be Fall to premier next Christmas, would it not?

I think this answers your question:

Variety

Vaughn, Witherspoon set for comedy
Duo set for New Line's 'Four Christmases'
By DAVE MCNARY

Vince Vaughn and Reese Witherspoon will star in New Line's holiday comedy "Four Christmases," set up at Spyglass with Gary Barber, Roger Birnbaum and Jonathan Glickman producing.

Vaughn and Witherspoon are also producing the pic, in which a couple visit their four divorced parents on Christmas Day. Script's penned by the writing team of Matt Allen & Caleb Wilson.

New Line execs are meeting with directors and eying a late fall start of production - presumably with aim of getting "Four Christmases" into theaters during next year's holiday season.

Project brings Vaughn following the break-out success of 2005's "Wedding Crashers." Witherspoon, who won the Best Actress Oscar for "Walk the Line" this year, recently wrapped on political thriller "Rendition" opposite Jake Gyllenhaal and set for an October release.

Vaughn will next be seen in Warner's holiday comedy "Fred Claus" and next year's Picturehouse release "Vince Vaughn's Wild West Comedy Show: 30 Days and 30 Nights - Hollywood to the Heartland."

Another Christmas comedy?

I hope Vince isn't becoming Tim Allen

This could be good if they cast the four parents right.

"Christmases" time for Vaughn, Witherspoon

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Vince Vaughn and Reese Witherspoon are in final negotiations to star in the comedy "Four Christmases."

They will play a couple who struggle to visit all four of their divorced parents' homes over the Christmas holiday.

A director is not yet attached to the New Line project, which is expected to be produced for release during fourth-quarter 2008.

"Christmases" was originally set up at Sony Pictures, which eyed it for holiday release in 2004, but the project was dropped because it conflicted with another holiday comedy at the studio, "Christmas With the Kranks." New Line picked it up in the fall with Adam Shankman attached to direct. Shankman instead segued to the studio's "Hairspray."

Vaughn's credits include New Line's "Wedding Crashers." His upcoming films include "Fred Claus" for Warner Bros. Witherspoon, who won an Oscar for "Walk the Line," will appear in the New Line thriller "Rendition," which is scheduled for an October 12 release.

Actually There will be a need for 8 parents if I'm reading correctly - that both sets of parents are divorced and remarried - this could be a really fun movie but I agree casting of the parents is key.

Yeah, I guess there would need to be 8. No matter how many there are, there is very few older actors left in Hollywood, soooooo........I'm thinking DeNiro would be a fun guy to see work with Vince.

Yeah, but DeNiro already did a "parent" movie with another Frat Packer. I mean, good choice, but I'd like to see someone different. I LOVED Peter Faulk in Made. It would be great to see him busting Vinnie's balls again in another movie.

I haven't seen a thing about other cast members although some reports have said that Vince and Reese have "joined the cast" of Four Christmases. I would think Vernon would be in the movie. Do you think he'll play one of the fathers? If the Christmas dinner scenes in this movie are anything like the family dinner in TBU, it will be a riot - four times over. Can't wait. By the way, I live in Florida - what is the Daily 10 - never heard of it.

Oh, the Daily 10 is a list of the top 10 stories from Hollywood. It's a show on E!, it comes on right after E! News.

Meg Ryan's career is in the toilet. I've always thought she would end up playing RW mother.
