The Frat Pack is the name for a group of actors who have appeared in numerous films together. These appearances are often in supporting or cameo roles, and the films share an absurdist sense of humor. The Frat Pack consists of Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Will Ferrell, Owen and Luke Wilson, Jack Black, and Steve Carell.

I wanted to give our own Kevdo a shoutout who has been co-hosting the That's What She Said podcast for each new episode of The Office.
The latest one for "Crime Aid" just went up online right now

EW is reporting that there is a very "large" guest star being tapped for the one-hour episode of The Office to air after the SuperBowl.
I've gone on record that I don't want The Office to do "stunt casting" ala 30 Rock and Friends (though I thought some of those stunt casting things were funny).
That said... while it would be a black day for The Office, it could be a bright day for "the Pack".
Please keep replies related to this in thinly-veiled code mode, okay?

Wait... has the star been confirmed? Code-mode makes it sound like you know something that can't be found on the TWSS or Office Tally comment pages.
I think the two names floated around the OT spoiler talkbacks (we'll call them SC & RG) seem more realistic than a Pack-er... though not more than Packer.

How about we not put the thread in "code mode" and just say who the anticipated guest star is so we can all get on to reacting to it? Anybody else like this idea?
And I need you now tonight,
I fuckin' need you more than ever.

do you object to coded messages or are you just having a hard time deciphering?

The guest was named in Aussiello's column in EW.

I don't know about Josh, but that's
my reason.

OH Now I see it. Glad I still have my subscription, because I can't find that bit on their website.
I'd guess they work that bit into the show with a trip to NY, just like they did with Conan O'Brien.

I was assuming the guest would not be playing himself, but a character on the show.
Chee-eeese: really? Read it again...

I can't picture Mr. Pack Man playing a character. But given the Super Bowl episode's
plot, I can see Michael doubting himself and driving to NY... though that would be too similar to the end of the Launch Party episode. That wouldn't bother me too much. Or rather, some kind of "Jim Saves the Day Again" type of ending to cheer Michael up.
I'm trying to think how else he'd figure in if he didn't play himself. A friend of Todd Packer?
I doubt Greg Daniels would compromise the show too much by including him as a written character (ie: I don't think we'll see him as Cousin Mose v 2.0)

...so I assume we're talking about Ben Stiller? I'm completely missing the hints as well, but I heard about Ben Stiller guest spot possibly happening a while ago.
EDIT: No, wait, I got it. Neat. I might actually watch that episode, then.

It's on the website now. I'd link directly to the article but the URL has the actor's name in it.
Caution: Spoiler:

Well, that's
one of the three I had in mind. Your original post makes sense now.
Seriously, it's the holidays... my brain is fried at the mo.

So basically Jack's cameo is in the same nature as Stiller's in The Cable Guy. That doesn't compromise the show too much. I knew Greg Daniels would find a way to not make it a jump the shark moment.
