Remember when Vince got bumped from Letterman in June because Bill Clinton became available? Guess he isn't the only one that's been cancelled at the last minute. This article from the NY Post's Page Six says that it's been happening often. I always assumed that this was standard practice (I used to watch a lot of The Larry Sanders Show). Take note that the article doesn't actually say that Vince was upset about it. I mean, he might have been thrilled to have been relieved of one of his pub tour gigs. And it's not like Wedding Crashers needed more publicity, right?
Here's the article:
Dave's Bumpy Show July 31, 2005 -- "THE Late Show with David Letterman" is ticking off some big-name stars by canceling their appearances at the last minute. According to an insider: "A few weeks back, Vince Vaughn was booked but was canceled the night before he was supposed to go on because President Clinton came through. This week, Andy Dick had been booked for Tuesday's show but was then bumped to Thursday when Jamie Foxx came through. Andy then flew in from Los Angeles and was booked for Thursday night's show instead ... but on Tuesday night, right during the premiere of 'The Aristocrats,' he got a phone call that Bill Murray had come through as a booking for that night." Dick settled for an appearance on "Live with Regis & Kelly." A third star, Rachel Griffiths, flew in from Australia to do the Letterman show, but was also canceled and won't be rescheduled for another four to six weeks.
Thanks Tracey and Alicia for passing this along.
