VAUGHN SIGNS FIVE PICTURE, NO ACTING DEAL
“Wedding Crashers” star gets $60 million to play immature louts
Hollywood - New Line Cinema has signed Vince Vaughn to a deal that will pay him $60 million to appear in five films, but forbid him from acting. The contract stipulates that the star of recent hit “Wedding Crashers” will play a hard partying man-child, as he did when he first burst into stardom with “Swingers,” but is not allowed to attempt to stretch as an actor like in flops “The Cell” and “Domestic Disturbance.”
After becoming an immediate star after “Swingers,” Vaughn starred in a number of films where he moved away from the immature, ultimately shallow party lover for which audiences loved him. Hoping to stretch as an actor and move away from his actual personality, Vaughn played an FBI agent investigating a deranged serial killer’s mind in “The Cell,” a criminal stepfather in “Domestic Disturbance,” and a murderous mama’s boy Norman Bates in Gus Van Sant’s remake of “Psycho.” All three films were failures critically and commercially.
Vaughn’s career rebounded starting with 2003’s “Old School,” in which he once again played an immature partier, albeit a less mature one as he was in his 30s. By returning to roles that, according to numerous reports, is extremely close to his true personality, Vaughn has become one of Hollywood’s biggest comedy stars.
“It’s clear based on analyses of his career that Americans love Vince Vaughn only when he plays Vince Vaughn,” said New Line president Toby Emmerich. “That’s why this contract specifically forbids Vince from rehearsing, discussing his character with a director, engaging in sense-memory exercises, or otherwise acting in any way.”
Vaughn’s contract calls for him to play a lead role in three buddy comedies in which he is required to co-star with Owen Wilson, Ben Stiller, Will Ferrell, Jack Black, or some combination thereof. In the other two films, he will play a comedic supporting role in an action film to lighten the tone of a movie that may otherwise be too dark for audiences, as he did in “Mr. and Mrs. Smith.”
The first movie in which Vaughn will star for New Line under the contract is “Little Big League,” in which he and buddies Owen and Luke Wilson start their own Little League team to make up for the championship they lost when they were 12 and to sleep with attractive mothers of local middle schoolers.

I've just been doing some behind-the-scenes organization,, adding a few pictures, etc. I came home to over 400 email messages (granted, a lot of them were spam), but I have been sorting through the news alerts, replying to people, etc. But I'm back! :)
